MVPinBoynton Posted September 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2006 We have posted a review of our August 27 cruise on the fabulous Freedom of the Seas. In addition to the review which has lots of pictures, we have also included a link in the review to copies of the evening dining room menus, along with the Portofino and Chops menus. We have lots of other full size pictures to put into our Kodak EasyShare Photo Gallery, which will also be linked to in the review when it is completed. zotzer Posted September 13, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Mike, What an awesome review! Thanks so much for taking us along with you. Sounds like you are among the "I just have to go back, because I couldn't do it all" contingent. :) So glad you had such a fantastic trip! MVPinBoynton Posted September 13, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Thanks Tracy. You guys on cruise #1 got us excited about this wonderful ship and I am so glad that I have been able to experience it. It does take a lot more than one week to experience it all. MACE Posted September 13, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Hi Mike, we were on the same cruise. Agree about the tendering chaos in Cozumel. Excellent review and pics, thanks! Can I ask...what type of camera did you use? We just got a new digital camcorder with digital still capability that we used for the first time on our cruise. The digital stills leave a bit to be desired. Also, thanks come from our 10 year old, she really liked the cruise director and loved your pictures of James. -MACE-

MVPinBoynton Posted September 13, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Mace, I have a Canon Rebel XT. I had just gotten an ultra wide lens for it, that really helped to get more in the pictures. I have always wanted to get a full cabin in a single pic. This lens did it. James is the greatest. I am so glad he is on the Freedom, where so many people can enjoy him.

Thanks, you got some great photos with that camera. Gonna keep it in mind when shopping for my next camera. James was indeed great, everytime our daughter saw him around the ship or before the shows, she went crazy and just laughed. BTW, she also was thrilled that the Captain took time to say hello to her and shake her hand (we had a chance to meet him at the Repeaters party) and ask her where she was from...overall, she enjoyed the whole staff of the FOS -MACE-
MVPinBoynton Posted September 13, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted September 13, 2006 When Carol puts the full size photos in the Kodak Gallery album, it will have a lot more pics of this beautful ship as well as larger versions of these. The photos in the review are cut down to about 50kb each, compared to the originals that are about 1700kb. Obviously, Kodak doesn't show the full size, but they are much better than in the review for seeing detail. The whole staff was very friendly. We have only had one other captain that enjoyed talking to the guests as much as this one, so it made it special. That James was everywhere wasn't he? D300 Posted September 13, 2006 #13 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Thank you for an wonderful and very good review. And thank you for the great photos too. Will be looking really forward for my Freedom cruise in October and I will take photos, photos, photos.... Nice job with the ultra wide lens, will buy one to my next camera, got now an EOS 300D (digital rebel) but will buy a new one after my cruise an EOS 400D (digital rebel XTi) too bad that I can't afford it before my upcoming cruise. Next cruise: Freedom of the Seas October 29th 2006 Regards
The Big Booper Posted September 13, 2006 #14 Share Posted September 13, 2006 WOW! That was a lot of work assembling the photo essay. And of course after going thru it I saw places I had meant to photograph but didn't; as you said, always happens. The wide angle is a 24mm? Where in Boynton are you? We have a villa in Banyan. We bounce up and down between NY and Fla.
robntawn Posted September 13, 2006 #15 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Mike, That was absolutely awesome. Yours is the best, most comprehensive, and easiest to read Freedom review ever! I especially liked your menus. One question: Are the menus for day 1 and day 2 switched? I thought that the Gala Dinner (night 2) had the fillet. Just curious... SHIVERMETIMBERS Posted September 13, 2006 #16 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Mike, Probably one of the most informative and enjoyable reads of a cruise that I have come across. The pictures are fantastic and I'm sure that when my DW reads your review later today that she will be even more excited (if that's possible) for our cruise on the Liberty of the Seas next May. Thanks again, you have started off my day on a very positive note. Chuck

MVPinBoynton Posted September 13, 2006 Author #19 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Thank you all for the very kind comments. Those of you that have a cruise coming up on the Freedom are in for a great week. The Big Booper, Howdy neighbor. We live in Sandhurst, just off Jog and Woolbright. The lens is a 10-22. It is my favorite lens now. robntawn, Thank you so much for pointing that out. In our haste to get the review out, I did switch them. I will get them corrected immediately. MVPinBoynton Posted September 13, 2006 Author #23 Share Posted September 13, 2006 The Thriller Powerboat ride is a 1 hour excursion and almost all of it is on the water. The kids will love it, the parents will love it and I can tell you from personal experience, these grandparents loved it.

rje1955 Posted September 13, 2006 #25 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Thanks for sharing your web site. This without a doubt is the best site I've ever seen when it comes providing both a review and pictures. Totaly awesome. I really like your picture of the Navagator and Freedom nose to nose, really puts things in perspective. What kind of cameras did you use for your underwater shots? Thanks again for sharing.
