Guaranteed category vs. cabin assigned

I have found a very good deal on Princess Diamond category JJ. In looking at the diagram of the ship I see no disadvantage to any of the cabins in this category, so why not let them assign me a cabin at sailing time. I am assured this category or better.

Am I missing something here? This will be our first cruise on Princess so I don't want to make a mistake.

Thanks...........

Grab that deal.:) On my first Princess cruise I picked a JJ stateroom assignment on the Sapphire Princess (Diamond's sister ship) and loved it. It was on the Caribe deck aft-ish. Loved the room and location. I would do it again in a heartbeat. On my next Princess cruise I found a great deal on an N inside lowest on the ship category GTY so I went for that and ended up being upgraded to a deluxe outside. With that said...about upgrades...on my Diamond cruise next month only one of the three cabins we booked got upgraded. Its just how it is.

So...to answer your question...I liked the JJ cat on the Diamond/Sapphire and go for a GTY if you aren't picky about location.
