hartwest Posted September 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2006 Does anyone know how far it is from the airport in San Juan to the pier? Also, is it possible to fly to San jJuan, stay the day before and go on the ship the next day without renting a car? Thanks
Darcy03231 Posted September 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2006 It was about 15-20 min. We flew in the day before and stayed overnight. Didn't rent a car, just used taxis. It was $17 from the airport to the hotel and another $17 from the hotel to the pier. From the pier to the airport it was $25.
KrysyGT Posted September 18, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2006 I got in the Taxi line at the airport and asked for flat rate to the cruise terminal. Cost $20 and took like 12 minutes if that. Super easy.
hartwest Posted September 18, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted September 18, 2006 Thanks. What hotel did you stay in in San Juan?
caribbean dreams Posted September 18, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2006 Its less than 15 minutes to the pier, we stayed 2 days pre cruise in San Juan and never even thought of taking a taxi anywhere, we stayed in Old Town, there is so much to do and see, it's in walking distants to everything. We were on the Destiny so the pier is also in Old Town so we just rolled our suitcases down the street to the ship when it was time to board. Our faimily loves San Juan, our next trip we will plan on staying even longer.

stprdi Posted September 18, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2006 We just stayed at Sheraton Old San Juan. You can't beat the location. It's across the street from the pier, literally. Easy walk and pull your bags or there are numerous cabs if you need them. Right behind the hotel is the Old Town and it's wonderful to stroll and check out the architecture. Lots of jewellry shops with some great bargains, good restaurants. We arrived a day early and the cab was 20.00 to the hotel. I believe most/if not all cabs are on a fixed rate system on the island. It was a 10-15 min ride.
caribbean dreams Posted September 18, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2006 Thanks What hotel did you use in Old Town San Juan? Last time we stayed at Sheraton Old San Juan, it's in a fantastic location. The first time we went we stayed at the Milano Hotel, we liked it also, it's also within walking distance of the ship (about 3 blocks) and right in the middle of all the action. Sheraton is off to the side so it is much quieter, the night life can get loud with all the discos and traffic at night.
