Traveler's Checks?

DH and I are getting ready to leave on the CB this coming Sat. We're wondering if they accept traveler's checks on the ship. Thought it might be a good idea to divide the money into half cash, half traveler's checks. Is that a good idea?

Travelers checks will be fine as a relatively safe way to carry money. As mentioned earlier, the shops, bars and restaurants on the ship don't take cash or checks, but you can easily convert travelers checks into cash without having to stand in the long lines at the purser's desk by cashing the checks at the casino cashier's booth.

I usually limit the amount of cash that I take ashore.....just enough for small purchases, food and drink....I expect that shops where I make larger purchases will take credit cards. But when I run low on cash I go to the casino and cash some travelers checks.....it gives me an excuse to play a few hands of blackjack before I cash out and take my money back to the room......or what is left of my money.
