cruiserssandr Posted September 21, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2006 Just saw on webcam that the Majesty of leaving St. Georges Bermuda a day early probably because of Florence. Poor guys! Too bad Helene cut there time short in Bermuda. That happened to us once too. One year they were expecting high winds making going through the cut difficult so they moved us over to the dockyard on Thursday and then we were able to stay till Friday. Once we ended up staying till 7 PM on Friday because of the weather. People were much happier with staying late!!
mbisson Posted September 21, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2006 I know there are probably lots of disappointed cruisers, but better safe than sorry. -Monte
jimswims Posted September 21, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2006 My parents are on the Majesty now. They thought that this might happen when they looked at the weather this week. They have done the Boston to Bermuda trip 11 times, usually in October and have never had to arrive in Bermuda late or leave early...ooo well...a first for them. I wonder if the Spirit will go to Kings Wharf tomorrow?

Bermuda got hit by a tropical storm and we got "stuck" in Bermuda for an extra day. Oh the misery!!!! It was interesting to watch the 75 mph winds blowing mopeds down Front St. I remember saying "boy is this is a tropical storm, I don't want to see a hurricane." I hope they don't have too many big waves on the way hom.
janetz Posted September 21, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2006 My gf just called and they have left Bermuda because of the hurricane. It is very windly, rainning and rocking. She said they will not be back until Sunday still. They will just cruise around. The weather in Bermuda was beautiful. :o

We usually go a week later but since they stopping this run a little early this year we decided to try this week. We just did this cruise on May 28 but still are very excited about going. We will sure miss this cruise once they retire the Majesty. Look forward to meeting you on the 2nd in the Rendevouz Lounge.

SHINEMAN Posted September 23, 2006 #22 Share Posted September 23, 2006 I'm anxious to see what they replace the Majesty with. I personally like trying different ships but there isn't much choice from Boston. Three years ago we had really rough seas. I think they said 18-20' swells. At night in the cabin it sounded like the ship was hitting a wall. We had to put the chairs against the closet doors to keep them from opening and slamming closed. Thank goodness for Bonine. Reading another thread about missing a day in Bermuda and getting a $27 credit for the port charges. How can you be charged $275 in port charges and only get $27 credit?? Not that I care, just curious. Janetz - If you have been in touch with your friend did she say where they are cruising around? Just wondered if they headed south out of Bermuda and are coming up the coast. Sharon LOOK AT MY CLOCK! WOO HOO!!! Saw something in the paper lately that Bermuda charges $60 per person plus $20 per person per day. That would be $200 and maybe Boston makes up the remaining $
CRAFTCRUISER Posted September 25, 2006 #23 Share Posted September 25, 2006 i'm with you guys next week....... hope our seas are calmer!!! we lost a day in 2004 because the majesty got back a day late and was damaged in a storm we left on monday night around 6pm, then when we got to bermuda we went to the dock yard for a night because of wind, and moved to st georges on thurs night. but a bad day in bermuda is better than a good ay somewhere else....right

Bermuda is just incredible. My son-in-law was still working on the CD's staff on the Majesty when that happened in 2004. That was quite a story he had to tell when he called home. I'm glad I wasn't on that cruise. We had just done that cruise the week before. See you soon CRAFTCRUISER! One more week! Can you tell how excited we're getting? bubbletoes Posted September 29, 2006 #25 Share Posted September 29, 2006 Lucky you! I was on the Majesty 9/17, and checked the bridgecam every day this week. Looks like you had absolutely gorgeous weather. This is the second year in a row the weather of this particular week in Sept. affected our plans, but at least last year we got to go to Hamilton. On well, always an adventure. Welcome home Sunday.
