Thank you for your reply. Did you do this excursion with him? How was it, what was it like? I just looked at that site, I have a few questions if you know the answers....are there prices anywhere at all? How many people are on each boat, do you book the times you want or do they leave at certain times? Thanks I will email Oscar as well..

Whale watching trips run January through March. Some tour operators also run the tours in December. A little each way outside of this time, you may still see whales on a boat tour, but you won't be on a "whale watching" trip.

Unlike Puerto Vallarta, there is no licensing of whale watching boats in Cabo - every boat is a whale watching boat in season. Even if you go on a nice snorkeling cruise on a boat like the La Princesa Catamaran or the Cabo Rey, you'll have a very good chance of seeing whales.

That said, the company I think runs a fun and very successful whale watching tour is Ocean Riders. They use a zodiac that goes up to 70 mph, which really gets you to the whales fast. They also use that speed to find whales that don't have millions of other boats all around them. Fun way to see the coastline too.

Hope this helps!

We haven't done it yet (we will this year, though) but a friend has. She's about 60 years old and thought it was a blast, and she is not one for this type of tour usually, normally preferring bigger, more comfortable boats like Cabo Rey.

I have done a zodiac whale watching trip on the Oregon coast and we were literally jumping over waves (quite fun actually), but the water was much choppier than what it normally is in Cabo, and the raft was a lot smaller. I would imagine if the water was rough, you'd get a similar chop, though, since it rides on top of the water and doesn't have a hull, but from all the pictures, it looks like it rides pretty smooth, and our friend said her ride was very smooth.

Hope this helps!

I'm not especially. ;)

The draft is the depth of water needed to float a boat, but amounts to the distance from the waterline to the deepest/lowest point of the boat.

Anywho, the boats in the pictures look like Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIB) that do have a solid hull (like a regular boat) with an inflatable collar around it. They are faster, more seaworthy, and a lot more comfortable than a regular inflatable boat.

Hola Zy...wondered how long it would be to see you over here on this board! When you coming to Cabo again. Paradise Beach Tom said you were in Cozumel recently and teased me that there was a present on dry ice for me! Please let me know when you are coming and I will meet you on the pier.

The only one I would recommend here is Oscar with Cabo Expeditions. Super person, great operation.

or email at caboexp@prodidgy.net.mx

Hey Solita,

I emailed Oscar about his tours when you suggested him back to me on Sept 24. Havent heard from him so was wondering if there is anything you could suggest? Thanks. CW

I will call him now and ask him to please respond. Sorry I haven't read the board in a few days or I would have told him this morning.
