Cruise Insurance?

:confused: What happens if I purchase cruise insurance and then cancel the cruise outside the penalty time? Do I just lose the cost of the insurance or is the insurance canceled and I get a refund? We're booking a year out so we're not 100% positive we're going(only about99%:D )

I always take the insurance, but not until I make final payment and normally buy it independent of the cruise line. You can cancel your cruise anytime before you make your final payment and get your full deposit back.

most policies you will lose the entire cost of the insurance, but I have read here of some companies that will allow you to rebook another cruise using the same policy. Unless you are expecting to have issues with pre-existing or are booking airfare separately from the cruise, you might be better off waiting and booking one of the policies when you know for sure you are going.

 

For instance, we booked over a year ahead to Hawaii, found fantastic non refundable airfare. Had to cancel our cruise ahead of the cruise penalty period. We were able to collect insurance on the air fare.
