kingsgirl Posted September 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2006 I hear that there is going to be a longer run possible on the White Summit Pass. I'm going on RC's Serenade of the Seas in late May and have read posts and checked out Chilkoot Charter (I think) website but I'm a little confused. Is this longer option only through this external agency or can we book it onboard our ships as an option too? On the website I couldn't find any prices for this either. Is it possible to book the train through RC and then rent a car at the top and drive to this infamous Emerald Lake that I've heard about or do I have to book it all through this secondary agency? Any clarification from people who have actually done this would be AWESOME....thank you so much!:)
Yukon Posted September 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2006 There are a large number of combinations now and will be even more next year. There's no town at the summit, so no car rental. The new service to Carcross isn't on anyone's Web site yet, but will only be available from operators such as Chilkoot (and probably others). No price has been announced for the train section, but judging from other sections, $120-130 should be close (it's 67 miles, with lunch at Bennett included) - so ca. $200. including the one-way bus with Chilkoot or whoever else gets on board. Timing could be difficult, though - it'll be about a 10-hour tour. Murray
Cruisechick82 Posted September 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2006 I know the current 8 hour Chilkoot tours that many people took this summer that included the combo bus/train and lunch at Carcross cost around $158.
