sonic Posted September 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2006 My wife and I have recently returned from the Sea Princess Transatlantic cruise, 09/02/06-09/18/06. We were on deck 10, B421 and in rough seas experienced loud booming noises preventing us from sleeping at night. It affects a number of cabins, on a number of decks. The assistant purser told us that it was an issue with one of the bulkheads. Has anyone else previously experienced this on this ship or any of the other Sun class ships? Druke I Posted September 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2006 We haven't run across that noise issue, but on a rough trans-Atlantic on Golden Princess, 8-02, the elevator cars in the front elevator shaft were banging about quite loudly as the ship was pitching and fighting for headway. Not at all unusual to hear loud creaking noises in rough waters; hull flexing. The flexing actually is a good thing - if the hull was too rigid it might "spring a leak". The flexing on that particular trans-Atlantic caused several windows along Prom Deck to shatter!
