coka Posted September 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Hello, Has anyone stayed at the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale? I have a reservation there for a post cruise over-nighter. Any information/tips are most appreciated! Coka
Rare Lois R Posted September 30, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Hi Coka:) I have never stayed there but I have been inside. All I can is "Location, Location, Location":D it is in the PERFECT SPOT....directly in the middle of Las Olas Blvd with tons of shops and restaurants on each side! Enjoy your stay there!:)

Jane110 Posted September 30, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2006 My Mother lives in Ft. Lauderdale, so I never stay in hotels there but I've been inside the public areas and they are lovely. The location is wonderful and the hotel is very pretty. They have two great restaurants - a formal Grill Room and a casual restaurant. I've eaten in both and they're excellent. Also, since you're on Las Olas you can walk to a few dozen other great places. I love Marks on Las Olas - fabulous food, though it does get too noisy. Lots of great shops, plenty of walking available. Overall, I give it a high recommendation from every perspective other than the actual rooms, only because I've never seen one. Bequia Posted September 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Coka, The Riverside is the city’s oldest hotel, built in 1936 on the well-known Las Olas Boulevard dining and shopping district. To the back of the hotel is the river bank and its constantly changing water traffic. It's a beautiful property. Ask for a room in the new "tower" as it is a more updated section then the original. ;) ////////////////
Jan_In_Maine Posted September 30, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2006 We will be there post cruise the beginning of November - I always write a detailed review, so I'll post - everything I've heard (thanks Lois & Jane) has been positive about the hotel and the area (as long as one is in the new tower section). coka Posted October 1, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted October 1, 2006 Well all right! If the fashionistas say I picked a great hotel, then I picked a great hotel! I read reviews on tripadvisor and they were all favorable too. I attended a conference in FLL and remember walking Los Olas Boulevard. I found a great cocktail dress at a funky boutique, ate at a restaurant called Mangos, and the beach is at the end of street. I am very excited now. Thanks for the tip on room request. Although, do I need to change my 6am flight? I am hoping to eat a nice meal and get a good night's sleep on the Sunday night after cruise... Or, will I hear music...see lights...find a crowd...and be drawn out until it is time to go to airport? LOL Thanks everyone! Coka
