lisalovlee33 Posted October 1, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2006 Hello.. We're booked on a balcony cabin (BB) at the back of the ship.. Literally, at the back (not the side of the back, but at the very back) on the dolphin right next to the big suites. (there're a total of 2 BB catergory rooms on the dolphin and 2 BB on the emerald as most of them are on the Caribe and the Aloha - Star Princess). Any experience with these rooms? I think it'll be kinda nice watching the back of the ship... any disadvantages there? thanks..
jennew Posted October 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2006 It was the best room we have ever had. I will miss it terribly when we have to book a regular balcony next time. You won't regret it!

lisalovlee33 Posted October 1, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted October 1, 2006 Looked really nice, but does it smell of gas (like a car??) or noisier than another balcony room on the side??
jennew Posted October 1, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 1, 2006 We heard the sound of water....like a waterfall. We liked that a lot. I smelled nothing strange except once when we were in port. I was fairly sure it was coming from something else and not the ship. I will book another one of these rooms if I ever get the chance.

I do not understand how such could be the case, but perhaps I missed something. I will ALWAYS book an aft balconyif possible. The balconies are larger and the view is terrific. Normally quieter as well but dependent upon what's above/below you. Again, depending upon the deck, engine noise and vibration is an issue for some. For us it's like the old "vibra-beds" without having to spend a quarter. On Dolphin deck neither of these should be a factor though. Enjoy your cruise. edithann Posted October 1, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 1, 2006 Our back of the ship cabin on the Diamond smelled like a bakery. It was heaven in every way. Our friends had a mini-suite, but choose to spend all of their time on our HUGE balcony :D

SoFloDeb Posted October 2, 2006 #12 Share Posted October 2, 2006 Hey MandE, are you on the Caribbean Princess in two weeks? We are and we've got C752! Just thought I'd ask if you're going to be a neighbor? Less than two weeks and counting down. Woo Hoo!!!
cruisieparker Posted October 2, 2006 #13 Share Posted October 2, 2006 We were on the 9/9 sailing of the CB and had room C752. LOVED IT!!!!!:D It was quiet except for the sound of the ocean behind you. The balcony was very big and we have never stayed in a cabin that we enjoyed more. It was very private...there was only one neighbor and that was the cabin to the left of us. I read a review that said the wooden hangers that did not have clothes on them banged together sometimes and it was true....they did. I don't know why because I felt no more vibration than any other cabin. We just put the empty ones between the ones with clothes on them and that solved the problem. When you walk down the hall you have to take a right and a little short hallway that is all your own appears. Would book it again in a heartbeat. lisalovlee33 Posted October 3, 2006 Author #17 Share Posted October 3, 2006 thanks all for the reassurance. I did notice on the PRincess Deck Plan that the balcony on the back is a tad bigger on the Dolphin.. yay!
JPRLHR Posted October 3, 2006 #18 Share Posted October 3, 2006 Just returned from the Crown and had a Premium Suite (C748) at the aft. I thought it was fantastic... The balcony was huge. There was of course the constant calming sound of the wake but also a little noise from one of the A/C outlets which you noticed only when out on the balcony. Certainly no exhaust odours. The only slight downer was that we noticed a lot of movement on the Friday going over to Bermuda when there was a decent swell on the sea. However, I will without question make sure I'm down that end again next time.
