Review of September 22 wedding Explorer of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Royal Romance: I was happy with RR. For my finalization, I worked with Melissa. She answered all my questions. RR and RCL did something great for us that I want to pass on. My FIL had major back surgery two weeks before the wedding. Even thought we put him on our guest list, we didn’t expect him to attend. The day before the wedding, he received the ok to travel to the wedding. My BIL is an EMT and had set up transportation from the hospital to the pier. The one catch was that two EMTs had to be present. My BIL called RR on Thursday and was able to add the additional EMT to our guest list. RC allowed them to drive the ambulance right up to the ship instead of the holding area for guests.

When we arrived, we had no idea what to do. The baggage handler would not take our things until the wedding coordinator was present. I was getting very angry when we could not find her. When I finally found her 15 minutes later, the baggage handlers had already took our bags. Why they made it such a big deal that she be there made no sense to me. Check in was smooth. Even my sailing guests were able to check in on the VIP side. WARNING: Make sure your non-sailing guests bring proper id’s. No matter how many times I reminded them, I had two forget. Some non-sailing guest had a hard time locating the pier.

While we waited, Captain Arnold went through the ceremony with my husband and me. We added the sand ceremony ($45) and the rose ceremony (brought our own roses). Our best man and matron of honor signed the license. We boarded the ship around 11:30. I went to our room and my husband went to my mothers to get ready. Our guests walked around the ship. The ceremony was held in the Chapel at 1:00. All guest had to be in the Chapel by 12:45. Many guests just hung out in the Dizzy Jazz Lounge, which is one floor below.

They ceremony was great. Captain Arnold made the ceremony fun. If you are looking for something serious and traditional, let him know. The ceremony was about 20 minutes. After the ceremony we proceeded to our reception held in the Cloud Nine and Seven of Hearts Room. When we arrived, the bartender had rum punch, punch and yellowbirds ready for the guests. I had to remind the guests that they can order what they want as it was an open bar. Food was ok. Hot food was mini quiches, breaded shrimp with sweet and sour sauce, chicken meat balls and mini curry pockets (very good). Not many people ate the cold hors d’oeuvres. Since we had 21 guests, we ordered a larger cake that was never touched. I did not request anything special with the cake. It was yellow butter cream icing with yellow cake.

The photographer took about 309 pictures. They came out pretty good. He took pictures throughout the reception. He tried to take pictures of everyone. After the reception, we went around the ship to take pictures. About half way through we were done. Be prepared for guests to get in the way of your pictures and a lot of strangers congratulating you. We met to review pictures about half way through the cruise. He tried to sell us the biggest package $1799. I just said give me the $500 dollar package. He looked surprise since that package was not even listed n the package list he was showing us. (Thanks to the CC). I received 36 5x7, 1 8x10, all proofs. My ceremony package included an additional 10 5x7 , 1 8x10, 1 frame and 1 photo album. If your package comes with pictures, make sure that you remind the photographer, as he didn’t remind me.

Overall, we were happy with our decision to get married on the ship. Below is the link to our pictures, they are not in order.

Congratulations

I also tried the link but it didn't work for me either. I am getting married this Friday on the Explorer and would love to see the pictures. Thanks for the info about check in and especially the photographer. Do you have any other last minute advise or tips?

Thanks

Thanks for the tips. I am getting married on 2/11/07 on Explorer. I would love to hear more.... I was worried about the service...is the officiant nice? Funny? How did the music work for the reception. We are just doing horsdorves too.

Do they give you a CD player and you are kind of on your own with it? What is the sand ceremony? I feel a bit in the dark on options...

I couldn't link it to the pictires, I tried on my own snapfish account. So, you can upload your pics onto snapfish and make your own albums, right? What a great thing for thank you gifts.....
