dodukes Posted October 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2006 Ok so I am online now and ordering a couple of drink coupons and a cake for my dbf's bday since we will be on the ship. I have selected the On request option from when to deliver it.... I liked the suggestion taht someone gave me regarding having it delivered to the room instead of the dining room, anyway my question is , who do i ask for it when we embark?? Should I tell our cabin steward that I ordered a cake and that I would like it delivered on such date to our cabin??? Any body done this "on request" option? Also my understanding from prvious posts is taht the drink and soda coupons are deliverd to dinner the first night. If they are not or if we wanted them earlier, who should we see about them?? tankersbabe Posted October 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2006 The drink and soda coupons will be delivered the first night at dinner...that I do know. I don't believe you can get them any earlier...which sucks for the first couple of round of drinks during sailaway. :) I've always ordered our cakes and such to be delivered upon embarkation...I've never done a 'upon request'. SmooCruise Posted October 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2006 If I were you I would have the cake delivered to the dining room during one of the dinners. That way the wait staff makes a big deal about it! They grab the waiters from nearby and they all bring it out singing and it has sparkler type candles on it. Then you can share the cake with your tablemates. Just makes it a little more special of an occasion....but that's just my opinion....
dodukes Posted October 3, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted October 3, 2006 Hey Smoo, That was my original thought and then someone mentioned that they must do this a lot at every seating and also mentioned to think about teh cabin. Well the cabin had never crossed my mind and i actually liked that idea better, its just seems more relaxing and we can have it whenever we want and also keep some for the next day or later on, no need to stuff ourselves with it at dinner when we may want to try other desserts, hence why i really liked the cabin idea, so now i have the page on hold, deciding whether i should choose "upon request" blindly or go with the upon embarkation...not sure if it gets delivered to your room there tho... Yup, it's delivered to the cabin and waiting on us when we get there (usually)...sometimes a little later, but it's there in the cabin!

gazingm42 Posted October 3, 2006 #8 Share Posted October 3, 2006 When DS was on the ship we told them it was his birthday the waiter got a cake for the 8 at the table. We were never charged anything for it. Since we booked only 36 hrs before sailing we really did not have the time to order a cake, etc. I am not sure if that was an oversite, but they never asked us either. I not sure if this is normal practic etc, or just got lucky?

Our dogs bought one set of drink coupons, the cat bought the other set, and all three went in on buying the cake for our anniversary. LOL! I have to amuse myself somehow...can't wait to hear the delivery girl stumble through our weird 'friends' names...LOL! Semmi, Oscar and Halle. On our first cruise, honeymoon, another couple at our table that we had just met ordered us a cake. At first the wait staff wouldn't tell us who it was from as they (the couple) didn't want us to know but I finally got it out of them! *LOL* Smoo is very determined! :D
