RellaKay Posted October 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2006 Hi everyone! I have seen some posts about cingular and sprint but does anyone know anything about verizon? We will be on MOS to Cococay, St. Thomas and St. Marteen. Thanks ahead of time and have a great day!:p
japy Posted October 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2006 Was on that cruise beginning of Sept. and there was no signal at sea but when you pull into port I received a signal. The charge from St. Thomas was .69 a min. and St. Marteen was 1.29 a min. hope that helps and have a great cruise...
roe2ship Posted October 5, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2006 We have Verizon and had no problems using the phone in St. Thomas but could not in St. Maarten. I thought I remember that we needed a code number (from Verizon) before dialing to avoid roaming charges. I would double check with Verizon. Enjoy your cruise! rsscaptain Posted October 5, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2006 That was my experiance as well. Although I couldn't use my phone at all until my brother in law, (with my pin) called and set up my phone to avoid those heavy charges and then it worked fine. Byram Anne Posted October 5, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 5, 2006 I think the code you put in your phone before you leave is *228, then hit send. You would be better off calling Verizon first. Don't send any text messages because they ended up costing us quite a bit of money. Have a great time! I'm so jealous.:)
rfische1 Posted October 5, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2006 I did this itinerary in July and had my VZW phone with me. Worked both in St Martin and VI with roaming charges. Will not work at Cocoa Cay. If you end in Puerto Rico, call will be free as this is part of their network. HOWEVER, call VZW to make sure your account is enabled for use out of the US and Canada.
