Swiss International Air Lines

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Swiss International Air Lines. They seem to have gotten very good ratings, but I haven't heard any firsthand accounts. We will probably be flying with them MIA-ZRH-FCO for our cruise next March as they have the best combination of price and itinerary. This is not the same airline as SwissAir, which went bankrupt in 2001, Swiss International was formed after that.

We flew them 3 years ago. Amsterdam to Zurich to Bucharest. They changed there schedule after we bought our tickets. The flight from Zurich left before the flight from Amsterdam left. They never notified us of change. Fortunately, I checked flight times a couple of days before and got the first flight changed.

Flights were fine.

They are the company that emerged from Bankruptcy.
Technically, no. Swissair went under, and went under permanently. (In Europe, unlike in the US, dead airlines are allowed to die! ;))

What is now SWISS used to be known as Crossair, which was a regional airline closely affiliated with Swissair. (SWISS still uses Crossair's LX code, for example.) Some of Swissair's assets and routes were shunted into Crossair to make the current SWISS.

Notwithstanding that, SWISS still almost went under. It had to be rescued by Lufthansa, of which it is now a subsidiary.

SWISS is quite highly regarded, and has improved its onboard shorthaul service in the last 12 months or so in response to customer demands. It's likely that you hear little about it because it is a relatively small airline, especially compared to its parent company.
