Dawn Princess - Cabins for Family of 4

Recommended Posts

Thinking of taking an Alaska cruise out of San Francisco next summer on Dawn Princess.

Weighing up the pros & cons of fitting us all (my wife & I plus two boys 6 & 10) in either a standard FF grade Oceanview cabin or paying more for a balcony BC grade one. The former is the normal Twin + 2 Upper arrangement but the latter is shown as 2 Lower, 1 Sofa + 1 Upper.

Has anyone had experience of this kind of cabin - how does it all fit together.

Would you recommend it for a family of 4?

Is it extremely cramped with all the beds out?

Do some of the beds (upper & sofa) get put away during the day and made up again (by the cabin steward?) each evening.

Many Thanks for any help.

For an Alaskan cruise please get the balcony- you will be able to sit out there with your family and enjoy the scenery without being with tons of other people out on the public decks.

When you are at dinner the beds are put down.. and put away while you are at breakfast. For the small amount of time you are in the cabin it works good.

Putting a lot of people in a cabin does not work for some. It worked for us for our first cruise as we put 5 into an inside cabin. We used an over the door shoe holder to keep the stuff off the one vanity.. to keep the cabin somewhat organized. once clutter started happening the cabin will seem to close in on you.

One bathroom- but we manage to all get ready for stuff at home where we have only one bathroom. It is managable as long as there is somewhat of a schedule.
