lisalovlee33 Posted October 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2006 Hi, We've been using priceline on a lot of hotels, and so far, we get good deals on the hotels (we researched the price, etc before bidding). We've been trying to get a hotel in Fort Lauderdale (downtown, or airport location) and seem to be hitting a brickwall. And just now, I got a call from a friend saying most of the hotels in the airport are already fully booked. Question is, I think Nov 11 is the Veteran's day. Aside from that, is there anything BIG going on down there on that week? Thanks all, would appreciate any answers if you know something that we don't. Thanks again. Bequia Posted October 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2006 The Ft Lauderdale International film festival wraps up that weekend. The Ft Lauderdale Home Design and Remodeling Show is also in town.
Lou33 Posted October 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2006 Are you staying the night of November 11 or is that the date that you sail? We were able to get Amerisuites for Nov 9 and 10 for $75 on valuetrips.com as a backup. I've been trying priceline for the last two months without luck. We're hoping to get the Grande or Renaissance for about the same price.
sailaway211 Posted October 6, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2006 New Jersey schools are closed 11/7, 11/9 and 11/10. We always cruise every year that week. Lots of families vacation that week here in NJ. It is hard to get flights out of here if you don't book well in advance during that time. We waited too long and now we can't even get air down to FL so we are going Thanksgiving week instead this year. I do think NJ would have some impact on hotels down there. gratefulguy Posted October 6, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2006 Could it also be that some of the ships that are in the Med now will be returning to start their Caribbean seasons? I'm on the Grand Princess from Barcelona Nov.1--we stop in FLL (just 3 hours) to debark passengers on Nov. 16 before finishing in Galveston on the 18th. Activity at the hotels probably picks up, too. Hope you can get a good place!
wrp96 Posted October 6, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 6, 2006 Well, there are 6 ships sailing out of FLL on Nov 11th and 4 on Nov. 12th, plus 3 ships out of Miami on the 11th, and 7 ships on the 12th.
lisalovlee33 Posted October 7, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted October 7, 2006 Thanks. I probably should book something now and then hope for the best on Priceline. The Amerisuites deal looks pretty good now. I should check it out. Last year, we got Amerisuites, for only $48 on Priceline.. gone are the good ole' days! :) We're sailing on the 12th. mycruz Posted October 14, 2006 #8 Share Posted October 14, 2006 I just booked the Wyndham at the Ft Lauderdale airport for $149. There are hotels out there but doesn't look like you're going to get a $49 rate.
