orknot2be Posted October 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2006  Can anyone tell me if there is a way to do an online booking change through the RCCL website - that is, make a new cruise reservation but keep/switch the onboard booking number from the original reservation to use as deposit or payment. Or is this something you can only do through the booking dept by phone? If I do this by phone, what is the best way for me to insure that the agent clearly follows instructions so that I have the same booking number and am eligible for onboard credit? Does anyone have "horror" stories of switched bookings gone "bad"? Thanks for all the info. :p
dougp26364 Posted October 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2006 I've always done it by phone. They send out a confirmation E-mail almost imeadiatly so that you can see the booking has changed but the booking number has not. I'm not sure that this can be done online and I've never attempted it. To date, I've changed two cruises that were booked while onboard, one through a TA and one directly through RCI, and have never had a problem with this. We have also upgraded our balcony discount and added C&A coupons when they have become available. I've had better luck with our RCI direct booking rather than with the TA's. In fact, I'm still fighting with a TA who failed to turn in a $75 coupon before the expriration date and did not get the discount for me. This is encouraging me to only use RCI direct. Thanks for the help I believe it's $50-$100-$200 depending on the length of the cruise. I'm not sure how many nights are required for each level. I think up to 6 nights it's $50, 7 to 11 nights it's $100 and > 12 nights it's $200.
beej Posted October 7, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 7, 2006 Thank you so much for the info. We are going to book something on board for a 2008 cruise, but will probably have to change it at a later date. Just want to book the right thing if we are going at another date. Thanks again Beej
dougp26364 Posted October 8, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 8, 2006 Anymore, I always try to book something while onboard to secure the OBC for our next cruise. Even if our next cruise hasn't been listed yet. We'll be on Radiance in Decmeber and I plan on booking something then but, we'll be wanting something for 2008 and the iteneraries we're interested in probably won't be out until April/May of '07. crazeekayaker Posted October 8, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 8, 2006 My husband & I booked a 4/07 Freedom and changed our minds for a 5/07 Mariner. I called C&A and they "moved our deposit to a new reservation" but the reservation number never changed. So within maybe 5-10 minutes, I checked RCCL online and it had all of my info (room #, dining choice, etc) was already updated. And then 2 days later the C&A Savings certificates (online) came out (I am still only a Gold member). I faxed it to the 866 # in the fine print and they have already taken $125 off the price of sailing. This situation may have been a glitch in my favor, but I have never had any problems with RCCL online or phone. I stick with them whenever I book. Hope this helps, but you can also take names and speak with the same person each time you call...that may help also!
