sea_u_onboard Posted October 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2006 We have chartered an entire fishing boat for our family of 4 next July in Ketchikan (Northern Lights). With 4 of us fishing we hope to catch several King Salmon. If we do can we just select the ones we want cleaned and shipped home? Do we have to take them all (what if it’s just TOO much)? This is assuming we are at or under the limit - which I don't even know what that is right now. What happens with the leftovers? Do we throw back the ones we don't want? Can we give them to the Captain (if he wants them)? Will the processing house buy the extras? Can we sell them once on shore? Inquiring minds want to know. Toyz711 Posted October 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2006 http://www.ketchikanfishing.net/ktn/seasons.htm according to their website, the limit is 2 kings each. usually a good boat captain will ask/suggest if a fish is too small to keep. don't worry about getting too much, they don't like to over-fish the fishing grounds. the boat's captain will know just what the limits are and if there are any size slots. (too big or too small to keep). they will keep you legal.
sea_u_onboard Posted October 8, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted October 8, 2006 It looks like some of the information on Ken's site is dated. The pricing is different per the Alaska Fish & Game Website - http://www.admin.adfg.state.ak.us/license/prices.html

Budget Queen Posted October 25, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 25, 2006 Ship your limit home. It will be well worth the cost and the later enjoyment- priceless. :)
