Trolly & Acquarium Question

KatWI

Recommended Posts

Hi! We're on the Radiance and will be in Key West at the end of Jan. Would we have to take a cab to get to the Trolly and does anybody know how far it is from the dock?

Has anybody been to the acquarium? I have a 16 yr old boy and 11 yr old girl.

THANKS!

Hi.

I have been to Key West once, via an airplane(!), and can not address the Trolley/dock issue other than to say: if you are docked at what I think is the main dock area, near Mallory Square, than it is an easy couple blocks to the Trolley departure area.

My husband and I visited the Aquarium about 18 months ago and enjoyed it very much. There are several places where you can stick your hands into a display and pick up non-hostile marine animals (great for kids, due to the eeek! factor) and they have live sharks and a very good, serious-minded guided tour.

The place is definitely NOT high tech, glam or sophisticated and will bear no resemblence to state of the art aquariums, like the ones in Boston or Baltimore.

This is a gentle, slightly tatty place which we found charming.

Hope that helps.

No cab needed for the Conch Tour Train/Trolley ticket booth as you will be deposited just steps away.

Feist gave a good assessment of the aquarium, it is very unusual to hear complaints even though it is totally different from the huge aquariums now appearing in major cities.

Have a great visit!

Thank you both very much! My daughter had only one request on our cruise and that was to see an acquarium...LOL! We're going on a cruise ship to the Caribbean and all she wants is to see an acquarium....it's so funny! It sounds exactly like what she wants so I'm sure we'll love it!

THANKS!

Greetings from Texas;

The Aquarium is probably good for the girl, maybe the boy. It is no Sea World (small), but the ray feeding is fun and my 11 year old has enjoyed it a few times since age 4 (he's a 49 dive Scuba Diver now). Be sure to do the interactive tidepool and watch where you point that sea cucumber. <g>

Do the treasure museum for the boy. Figure that might tie in with the Pirates movie craze.

Our trolly came to our dock, probably same for you?

Have fun - my kiddo's now done about a dozen cruises so been there/done that on kidfriendly port activities.

Hi KAT!

You can buy your Trolley Tickets at this website in advance and save a couple dollars per person:

http://shophta.com/acb/stores/15/product1.asp?SID=15&Product_ID=13

We are heading to Key West in November on the Radiance, and got our trolley "e-tickets" in hand. Should help avoid the lines at the pier!

The "on-off" privileges are the best part of the tour, allowing you to spend as much time as you like at each location, then just hopping on the next trolley than comes by!

HAVE FUN!

:)
