Just back from CB

Just returned from CB cruise. I was disappointed with anytime dining and the cabin. Food quality was uneven. Loved the MUTD. If you have any question I will be happy to answer.

We sailed on this ship 9/23 & I was not impressed, either. Too big, I think. Food got better as the week went on, but breakfast buffet was only ok. Better on other ships in my opinion. Looking forward to the Tahitian in Feb.!! Jan

We just returned as well. The food wasn't the best, but it was good. I thought that the entertainment was not as good as I've seen. They had a glut of comediens and the usual bathroom humor. Bert Stratton has a following and is as good as ever. The children's progran was wonderful. We had traditional first sitting and our wait staff was very good, hard to understand, but very attentive. Everything was good, but not outstanding. Cafe Caribe had some outstanding seafood and killer cookies. The coffee was awful, but no one makes better rolls than Princess. The lobster was another treat.

We loved anytime dining, because gettng table for 2 was never a problem..

We are somewhat foodie (love Celebrity's food), but found Princess food to be very good. :) And seafood was plenty!!!

I LOVED out CB cruise....however I was a little disappointed with the food also. I especially did not care for the night they had Ocktoberfest in the buffett and Italian night in the diningroom. For the first time, I got a cheeseburger on a cruise  ...I never thought it would come to that.

I also felt the late night buffett has gone way downhill. Not to many choices....I remember our first cruise on the Grand, the food was plentiful and our late night buffett trips always netted full platters. This time we left with chips and salsa.

Yes, you can order food from a menu. There are limited choices and to be honest, late at night I want to grab something and go. I don't want to sit-wait-order-wait-and then eat....

Oh My Goodness, we just got off the CB and I LOVED the Italian Night. The salad with the Pine Nuts was excellent and I got the Ravioli's and instead of the white sauce they topped it with Marinara sauce...and the lemoncello...I think that is what it was called was wonderful. That was my favorite night. I am not much on seafood so......don't eat lobster. Cheeseburgers were good....pizza not so good.

Now as far as the buffet....I was not really wild about it for breakfast....so after about the first two days, we went to the dining room and the food and service were excellent. They had these little pastries with chocolate in them....YUM!!!

Only visited the late night buffet once and they had awesome fried chicken on it.

OK, I am rambling, but I believe that the food is very personal and some people like things a certain way while others don't. But I can always find something to eat!!!:) JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION.

Good timing for us. We leave on CB on Saturday. How is reserving seats for MUTS handled? If is first come and grab a seat or can you reserve ahead of time and how? Also what about Cafe Caribe, I've heard good things about the food there...did you try it? Any other inside tips? Thanks!

No reservations anymore, just come around 15 mins or so before the movie starts and you should be able to get good seats. Waiters come around and take your drink orders.

We ate at the Cafe Caribe for two dinners and a couple of lunches, if we didn't see something we wanted we just walked next door to the Horizon Court and got something from there.

Hi the food in the Horizon buffet was awful . I am comparing it to the buffet on the Windjammer on RCI. No juices after breakfast, nothing but iced tea , tea and coffee. The eggs were runny and warm. I saw canned corned beef for lunch one day.I don't serve that at home Fresh pineapple had not been peeled and it should be. I peel it at home. The seafood extravaganza was not good. They had what tasted like defrosted lobsters claws, crab and shrimp thrown in a pile. Presentation was lacking. I had seen photos of other seafood buffets and couldn't believe this one. and I love seafood. It was too salty. The dining room was good but we could not get reservations for two nights( explained the birthday situation to them and they didn't care) and had room service instead.Unacceptable on my birthday. In the Palm dining room we ordered appetizers and the server brught my son's main course while we were still eating them. We felt rushed . No more than one cup of coffee was offered at dinner. I ordered expensive wine so I thought maybe we should have been allowed to linger. I rush all day long at home. I don't like to be rushed at dinner. I guess you could call it good service when the second you place your fork on the plate it is swept away but I didn't like it. Others I spoke to in tradional dining felt the same way. All meals fromm room service arrived cold. I am an evaluator for the Westin chain here and so maybe I am more aware of what constitutes fine dining and hotel service.

I am confused I think! What is the difference between Cabe Caribe and Horizon Court? I thought they were just different sections / sides of the buffet restaurant?

We sailed on CB two years ago and had wonderful food in both the buffet and dining rooms. Last year we sailed the SP and found the food not so good in the buffet but the dinning was very good. I was hoping that going back to the carribean was the difference in the food in the buffet but I guess not! What is princess doing! Guess we can see where the cuts are coming from :o This is very disappointing! I have also read all the posts about the horrible entertainment on the CB. We have really enjoyed and looked forward to the entertainment everynight on our other sailings...I am starting to get a bit concerned about our upcoming sailing in January  Has anyone made complaints to Princess about this ? Are they aware ?

I've been reading these posts about the food being good, not being good, etc. I think food is such a subjective topic that it is hard to really know what it will be like until you, yourself try it. We were on the CB almost two years ago, were in anytime dining and had a wonderful wait staff, and we found the food great. However, the couple we cruised with, like RCI's food better and they cannot understand why we prefer to cruise Princess. And these are very good friends.

Anyway, since the OP has just gotten off the CB, do you by chance remember the movies playing at night at MUTS? We're sailing on Saturday and I would like to watch something good one night.

Thanks a bunch!
