Cap'n Cork Posted October 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2006 I have booked for the March 24th sailing of the Grand Princess out of Galveston, Texas. Ports of call for the March 24th, 2007 sailing of the Grand Princess are Roatan, Belize, Cozumel, and Majahual. While the notion of taking a tender from ship to shore doesn't worry me much (I first did it on the Norway back in January, 1999), I am curious as to which ports I'm likely to be using a tender. If anyone knows or has been tendered at which port(s), I'd like to find out. Please post the answer to this thread. Thanks in advance!
chris2597 Posted October 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2006 We cruised on The Grand last Feb and tendered into Belize and Cozumel. Roatan was not on the itinerary at the time. We tendered into Coz as the peirs had not been repaired from the recent hurricane. I am not sure what the status is there at this time. Costa Maya is a port that the ship will dock at...unfortunately we were not able to dock due to high winds...so the port was skipped.
Shoalwater Posted October 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2006 We are on the 6-Jan voyage, same route. All stops but Majahual are tenders (i.e., Cozumel, Roatan & Belize).
karen2cruz Posted October 12, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2006 We are on the 6-Jan voyage, same route. All stops but Majahual are tenders (i.e., Cozumel, Roatan & Belize). Our travel summary for the 1/13/07 cruise is the same -all tendered except Majahual.
SingerEsq Posted October 12, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 12, 2006 Cozumel docks are up and running. We docked on the 9/23 cruise and so did Carnival.
karen2cruz Posted October 12, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2006 2 of the three docks are usable, but the owner of the 2nd dock, a consortium in cozumel, was requiring an increased per passenger fee, so many of the cruise ships were opting to tender.I hear an agreement was just reached to not charge the fee. However, as of now the official travel summary for Princess shows the Grand tendering in Cozumel. Besides there are 6-7 ships in port the day we are there..... and even if 2 ships docked at each dock, that would leave 2-3 tendering. The third dock, owned by Carnival, is still under water, and according to the folks on the Cozumel board, no plans yet to restore it.
