armyman84 Posted October 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2006 When i called them they told me the only way to get one was to go through an interline agency. In my experience RCCI never knows what they are talking about so i am sure they offer one. I just went with a veterans travel agent instead. chief d Posted October 12, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 12, 2006 My DH has retired with 21 years in the Army and when I call to ask abou the discount no one that I talk to know about any dicounts for the military. i have been told they don't offer a discount.... BUT I have read on here that they offer them? Now what? OK, most lines offer a discount. Rccl offers it to active, reserve, and retired military of the US and Canadian services. Now here's what you have to do. First "AT TIME OF BOOKING" (the key) you must give a photocopy of your ID card. They won't help you after a cruise is booked. (Also not all T/A know or understand how the dicount works. Or they may just won't/don't tell you to ask for it.) Alwyas ask, it can't hurt and cost nothing. Second "DISCOUNTS ARE NOT OFFERED ON ALL CRUISES". They pick the cruises they want to discount. Hope this help some. I have done it on other lines and it can save you mega $$$$. asilde Posted October 12, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2006 I booked once through RCI, but I was able to transfer my reservation and saved quite a bit and upgraded my stateroom. It will depend on how far out the cruise is and if they are giving discounts on that particular cruise. No harm in checking it out... Lisa
init4fun Posted October 12, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 12, 2006 My upcoming cruise was booked through RCCL, the room was $919, got the same room by transferring to an Interline Angency for $597(an D2 Balcony) My understanding now with the new rules though is that if the discount is offered for military that you can get it right through RCCL now, you just have to ask when you call if that certain cruise has a military price(new list is just coming out since rules changed on Oct 2) I also heard the discounts arent as good as they were, now they are equal to what a senior citizen gets but any money saved is good no matter how much. Roses2 Posted October 13, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2006 There are several internet TAs that specialize in interline/military bookings. They have had the program for quite a while. It is NOT new. Not all cruises and not all cabin classes are available. We booked a JS several months ago at quite a savings. Suggest you do a little internet searching.
