Just a quick reminder -- check with your cruise line to see if they have ATM (cash machines) on your vessel. (My HAL ship does not.) Many do not and you'll need to plan accordingly.

Even if they do, they are often broken and are not serviced until they get back to their home port so you will be out of luck.

With the use of “sail away”, “cruise” and regular credit cards, what do you need cash for?

 

A couple of one-dollar bills for tips for room service.

Maybe a $20 for the room steward if he’s very good.

Whatever money you plan to lose at the casino. (You can get cash against your cruise card and pay a large service fee).

 

Bottom line is, how much do you plan on spending buying junk and drinking while in port?
