sa7776 Posted October 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2006 In three weeks we will be in Cozumel.. What can we expect since last years hurricanes. How are the Mayan ruin sites and Xcarat? Would appreciate any suggestions for shore excursions and any other information. My group has 67 ladies ages 21 through 81 so I would love all information. Thanks
Cozumel-Ian Posted October 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2006 The island is in great shape and you will see little hurricane damage, apart from at the piers and some buildings that are still being reconstructed. The Mayan ruins in Cozumel were totally unharmed by the hurricanes - you can find out information about San Gervasio ruins here. It's quite a group you have there - are you looking for one tour/attraction you'd all enjoy, or will you be splitting up? Let us know a bit more about your interests and we'll see if we can help. Thanks As mentioned San Gervasio ruins here in Cozumel are in good shape. If you want to see Tulum or Chichen Itza they are on the mainland - as is Xcaret - about a 40 minute $11 p/p ferry ride from Cozumel. If you decide to stay in Cozumel during your visit, you might enjoy Punta Sur park that recently reopened- eco park and lighthouse. Or you might be better off booking a Custom Cozumel Tour and stopping at the museum here in town, then to the San Gervasio Ruins, around the island to the east side and then to Punta Sur and through the old town of El Cedral. That will give you a taste of a lot of history and you can plan it with just your group so you can stay as long as you want at each spot. If different folks have different interests you can separate into groups - the A/C van will hold 10 -14 people each. Have Fun!!
