cws1966 Posted October 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2006 :) We are looking at this room. Read a couple of reviews by folks who stayed in this or nearby cabins. One remarked that they were not at all bothered by noise from the shows right below, at least not after 11 pm. If that is the case, that's fine with us. We rarely go to sleep before then. Another person said the noise was awful. The other thing is the privacy issue. They said this was a good choice because no one from above or below can see onto your balcony and there is tint to the glass, but there is a walkway right in front of the balcony. I was wondering how heavily trafficked this area is. Has anyone stayed in one of these front four balcony rooms on the Emerald that can tell us about your experience with noise, privacy, and movement? Would you recommend this or a higher deck? Thanks! Cruisin Kay D Posted October 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2006 We either had E203 or E205 -- actually wehad the 2nd balcony (from front) on starboard side on Grand Prin and our friends were in cabin next to us. We REALLY LOVED that location -- huge balcony maybe 3 times size of ones on Baja or Aloha -- very little wind -- nicely covered from rain or heavy sun. As I recall, the walkers' heads were just above the floor of our balcony. The plexiglass railing and cover on balcony was opaque and noone can see into your balcony -- we could sit out on the balcony & walkers would not even realize we were there. The walkers could only see us if we were standing by railing. There is some crashing-wave noise and for walkers some wind at that point, so if you're talking in soft to normal tones, walkers would not be able to hear you. Inside the cabin there was a little noise (base beat primarily) from theater in afternoon when rehersals were going on but usually we were outside on balcony or up top by a pool or elsewhere away from our cabin. At nights the slight noise from the theater didn't bother us because we were either at the show or at a bar, etc. We definitely would take that location again!!! Cruisin Kay D Posted October 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2006 I forgot to address your question of how many walkers? Since it's part of Promenade, it is used alot by walkers especially in the AM -- BUT after dusk that section of Promenade is CLOSED to everyone!!! So at night there is noone walking in front of your balcony!! You cannot look directly up to moon & stars but you are protected from wind & rain (should that happen!). Another thing: there is an exit door at forward end of the hall which accesses the outside/Promenade. It was nice for us to walk outside there & also get back inside there. We did not try using that door after dark to go outside -- if you do try to use it, only one of you go outside & see if the door can be opened from the outside so you can get back in. If both of you go out & door locked from outside, you'll be stuck spending the night out there, UNLESS the bridge has a security camera posted in that area..... Yes, our trip is coming up soon & it's for 14 days!!!
