Hotels in Port Canaveral

Recommended Posts

We stayed at the raddison at the port when we go to port canaveral. Very nice hotel, and we had a jacuzzi suite on top of it.. kids enjoyed that room very much. Very nice and clean hotel.

suggestion: jump over to the boards: Hotels: pre and post cruise and you will also find a lot of good info there on port canaveral:)

We have a large group (our M&M Rollcall buddies) going next May, and all of us are staying at the Radisson. I haven't been there, but got several GREAT reviews. Pictures show that you can see the ships at pier from the resort.

Hope This Helps.

What airport do most fly into for this port? I'm thinking about a cruise for next summer and would like to try this port - but there are different options for airports and I don't know which would be best. Thanks Jan

I'm assuming most people fly into MCO, we do anyway but it's also combined with a short stay in WDW. MCO is only about an hour away from Port Canaveral. What are the other FL airports you have for options?

Please understand that I have no clue what I am talking about, but when I go to travelocity I get - JAX, MCO, DAB, GNV and others. Jan

MCO = Orlando

JAX = Jacksonville

DAB = Daytona Beach

GNV = Gainesville

Plan to fly into Orlando.

We have stayed and booked again for Dec at the Residence Inn. Price was very affordable, includes full hot breakfast, offers shuttle service for $6pp round trip. Our DD, SIL, and GD are flying into Orlando and renting a car. There are many options.

Definitely MCO, and you're going to find the best fares into MCO from Maine compared to the other airports.

I know the codes for the airports - had to learn them many years ago when I thought I wanted to work in the airline industry - decided not!!!! Put still took flying lessons - I had a blast, great flying straight and level, but not the best at landing (no depth perception)

Question - Why are people saying to fly into Orlando? Travelocity is showing JAX as a lot closer to the port and it is the same $$ to go from Bangor.

Thanks for all the help! Jan

Jax is much further than Orlando to Port Canaveral. Do the Orlando--you will be better off!

The CLOSEST airport is Melbourne --- about 20 minutes south of the Port. They have Delta flights from a few places. While it is closest, you may not get the best airfares. That said, it's worth checking because they are working to get some other airlines.

The next closest is Orlando --- 45 minutes west of the Port.

Other close options are Sanford and Daytona Beach. Daytona Beach just added a bunch of Air Tran flights this past Friday. Depending on where you are flying from, fares may be decent to either of these airports.

Jacksonville's airport is a good 2.5 hours north of Port Canaveral. Tampa is about 2 hours west of Port Canaveral. Fort Lauderdale is about 2.5 hours south.

If Travelocity is saying that JAX is closest, it is messed up.

We are staying at the Residence in next month (that sounds wonderful to say that!) it is across the street from the Raddison. Have been to the Raddison a couple of years ago. We booked the Residence so we could all stay in a suite together. Like the cruise we don't plan on being in the room that much.

We were very pleased with the Residence Inn. Because it is new, it is immaculately clean. It's all-suite with large size rooms, so it's good for families. Service was attentive and the staff was very friendly.

We rented a car at MCO and returned it in Cape Canaveral, so it didn't matter to us that the Residence was one block further from the stores, fast food, etc, as compared to Radisson, since we had the wheels to drive ourselves around. We did miss being beachfront though.

There's a new Residence Inn that is a little closer to the port but IMHO only doesn't hold a candle to Radisson if you are there for a day or so.. pool area is not as nice and it's just in a field... and further from fast food, stores etc.

Stayed at both and enjoyed them bnoth very much. The pool at Radisson was awesome compared to the Residence Inn but they both cool you off.

We had a suite room at Radisson which was great. In laws had a regular room and it was small and needed renovation.

At the Residence Inn the rooms are bigger, the rooms had full size fridges, 2 burner stove, microwaves and a dishwasher.

As for the Radisson being closer to fast food, well the the 2 hotels are separated by 3/10 of mile.

Can anyone tell me any decent hotels that are near the Port Canaveral cruise port? Thanks!

I think it is a fun place to stay....the Hampton Inn has a path to the beach; they have a hot breakfast and washers and dryers there too. I took a few days to spend there before catching the Mariner and went to the Space Center. Flew into MCO and rented a car for the easy 40 mi drive to Cocoa Beach (no drop off charges for the car through Enterprise). Caught a cheap cab to the port, but the Marriott next door had a shuttle.

have fun!
