sherry7 Posted October 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2006 Hello all. My family and I recently got our passports, and I was just on the eBags website, browsing through some passport covers/cases. I noticed there are covers that basically hold the passport and absolutely nothing else. Then there are some that can hold the passport plus have credit card slots for a drivers license, etc. So...when you are going through customs, etc will I just need my passport alone, or will I need other types of documentation as well? Thanks!
WebNanny Posted October 16, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2006 Anytime you leave or return to the ship you must have your Sea Pass. In addition, since I travel with my minor granddaughter, I carry a notarized letter from her father stating that she is in my care and giving me permission to make medical decisions for her - no one has ever asked to look at it. Thanks for the tip about ebags - I need something better for carrying my passport and a few other things.

Thanks! Your passport is sufficient enough ID for you, since it has your picture on it and it's of course the best proof of ID you can have. Unless you have other papers that had to be filled out by immigrations, then your passport is the only thing you'll need.
dougp26364 Posted October 16, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2006 When leaving the ship we generally take our passport and a credit card for purchases. I'll leave a different credit card back in the cabin just in case something happens. Sometimes we'll take a little cash for those minor purchases. RADICALBURN Posted October 16, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2006 New passports starting from sometime in Augest come with their own protective cover. They also contain rfid tags in them. Some credit cards come with chips in them also. The problem is a person with a remote reader within about 20 feet of you can get all of your info from it. They make protective covers that hold passport and credit cards, just make sure you get the ones that block the readers....................................................RADICAL
Treven Posted October 16, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 16, 2006 The only thing I take when I'm going ashore is my passport and some cash that I plan on spending. Your passport is really all you'll need - well that and your seapass of course. I don't even take my driver's license when I leave home. I take a shuttle to and from the airport and I don't plan on driving anything on my cruise.
