If you had to pick the nicest place to eat in HONOLULU where would you go ?

Now this place has to be on the beach or close to it, money is no object, it can have fish, steak etc.

We are meeting my niece and her husband and want to treat them to a fabulous dinner, now don't forget this has to be top notch but good food.

Duke's

we were there one trip. wandering around thinking about what cheap place to eat. it was DH's birthday. we went in to just look at the menu,

the girls at the desk were so nice, DH said "forget it, we are eating here".

still one of our most memorable meals and we have had more then our share. one girl heard me toast his birthday and came with the cake.

open-air, right on the beach, torches lite at sundown...with great food.

If we're talking money no object, then the best choice is La Mer. French Continental cuisine with a touch of Hawaii, 2nd floor balcony overlooking the beach/ocean with fantastic views of Diamond Head. It is definitely THE place to go if you want to splurge. Duke's is a great restaurant/grill/bar, don't get me wrong, but this is in a completely different category. Service is fabulous with two waiters looking after your every need. You also pay for the privilege. But it's definitely worth doing at least once.

I totally agree. The hotel is beautiful...such an amazing traditional resort...and quite an amazing restaurant, so I've heard!!

The Hawaii Best Restaurants guide JUST came out last week....check it out here:

Notice that there is the popular choice and the critics choice in every category. Sometimes a place is popular because its cheap and nearby a large local population....so take every opinion with a grain of salt.
