rollie Posted October 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2006 I read somewhere that Charo is the headliner on the Freedom. I was wondering if anyone knows how long she will be aboard. We're sailing on the Freedom in Feb. Thanks for any replies. Rollie

We're sailing on the Freedom in Feb. Thanks for any replies. Rollie My wife dragged me to her performance. Once there, I was stunned. It was one of the best shows I've seen on a cruise ship. I had no idea she was so talented. But, she boarded the ship in Grand Cayman and disappeared after the next night's performance. I know she's done a few shows on different ships, but she does not remain on board as a regular performer. Sorry.
cb at sea Posted October 16, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2006 She must be, what--65 years old? I know, when I was a teen, she was pretty old, then! Anyway--she's a hell of a classical guitar player! That "hoochy-kootchie" stuff is not her real talent!
rollie Posted October 16, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted October 16, 2006 We saw her while aboard the Mariner a year and a half ago. I kind of chuckled when I heard she was to proform, and then while we saw her we couldn't believe how good she was. Rollie
Langley Cruisers Posted October 16, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2006 She's amazing. She has been awarded the title of "Best Classical Flamenco guitar player in the world".

She stayed on after doing her shows, and let me tell you, that girl knows how to party in the New Year! whhhhhhhhooooooooooooooooooooo!

None of them named Donny. ;)
Langley Cruisers Posted October 17, 2006 #8 Share Posted October 17, 2006 ^ ^ Hi Mike, Curious to know how you know this? Forgive me if this is common knowledge, but I've never come across it. How do you know who will be entertaining on the ship on your sailing date?
Linda/Ohio Posted October 17, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 17, 2006 We saw Charo on board the Enchantment in 1998. She was wonderful. As a result of seeing that show we bought tickets to see her in another venue. Very talented guiter player.
MickeyB426 Posted October 17, 2006 #10 Share Posted October 17, 2006 ^ ^ Hi Mike, Curious to know how you know this? Forgive me if this is common knowledge, but I've never come across it. How do you know who will be entertaining on the ship on your sailing date? Thanks to Merion Mom, she suggested I try e-mailing the C&A club (crownandanchor@rccl.com) and they told me. I'm told usually they don't have that info this far in advance, but this time they did. It's also on the Osmond's website, which I checked just to confirm it. None of them named Donny. ;) Oh good lord....thank goodness Charo was the headliner two weeks ago when I was on Freedom. If it were the Osmond Brothers I may very well have jumped overboard. LOLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!! Anyways, we picked up Charo in Grand Cayman, and yes she was PHENOMENAL!!!! I knew she was an outrageous guitar player, but I never knew how HYSTERICALLY funny she was!! It was the BEST show I have ever seen by far, and I bought her CD on the ship, which was well worth it. Sorry you'll miss her. :(

Sorry you'll miss her. :( I'm sorry I'll miss her too, but really, any "name" performer is somewhat of a treat on a cruise for me. After going to the Osmond Brother's website to check them out and see what they're like today, I saw clips of their recent concerts. It's not bad, actually. They'll do some covers of some other songs, plus their own. Based on what I had read, they still sell out in England. Go figure.
Treven Posted October 17, 2006 #13 Share Posted October 17, 2006 Charo is one of the "name" entertainers that is going to be on the Atlantis-chartered Serenade sailing this Saturday. Rumor has it that Cher is supposed to perform later in the week. If it turns out to be nothing more than a rumor, then it's no big deal but I'm certainly looking forward to seeing Charo.
