GMoney Posted October 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2006 According to whom is November the rainy season on these islands?
cb at sea Posted October 18, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2006 The "dry" season runs from late March to May in most of the Caribbean. That being said, most of the islands have showers off and on all the time! It comes from the mountains that make up the islands! The only real exception is Aruba, which is a true "desert" island. (Think Vegas, without irrigation!!) Because it's pretty flat, it gets very little rain. If it's raining when you arrive at port, chances are it will clear before you get off the ship!!! That's good to here as we are on the Mariner Nov 12th (Eastern) . This will be our 5th cruise but our first in November. Our TA said November is her favorite time to cruise. Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted October 18, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 18, 2006 I lived in coastal Venezuela many years. November will see rain from time to time, but it is very light and comes in short-lived showers. Most days, however, are just heavenly in November. We did have a bad day in Costa Maya during a late November cruise in which the port experienced a drenching tropical downpour that lasted the entire day! That kind of thing is quite exceptional though. It can happen, but it is unusual in November in the Southern Caribbean.
