Teens?

KT,

Our family of three including my then 16 year old son sailed on Century last Christmas/New Years. There was a teen club with counselors and regularly scheduled activities. Our son went to a planned activity at the beginning of the cruise, made friends, and then went to scheduled activities that appealed to him and hung out with the new-found friends at all other times.

I can't remember all of the activities, but know that his favorite involved making sushi. Sometimes they played ping pong or had a pizza party. There were also teen disco activities. They didn't have a great place to hang out, but I think with the refit the Century now has a better facility for this age group (the younger ones were downstairs in a playroom). I'm going on Century in November and will check out the teen program and the room if that will help. If you're going on another ship, the program activities should be pretty similar.

Best regards,

Linda

I have some copies of the 6 or 7 of the 13 days of teens activities aboard the Galaxy starting at

http://www.our-cruises.com/galaxy/1218_teens_sm.htm I don't know about the Millie, but the Galaxy also had a teen disco.

thanks for this link. does anyone know if the constellation has similar programs and activities for the 16 yr. olds?

thanks,lisa

Hi, We cruised on the Millie in the Medit in August '06 with 7 teens in our group of 5 families

There was no "teen only" club or location but there is a Teen program with activities every night (and during at sea days). On our sailing there were over 350 kids on board and at least 20 teens actively participating in the teen activities. Our kids had their own friends with them, so they very selectively participated in the organized group activities but enjoyed those they choose.

IMO the Millie did a nice job offering the teens varied and interesting things to do (special swim night at the Aqua Spa, basketball games, disco nights, karoke etc), but the size of the group can make it or break it. So with teens, I would choose a sailing (which you did!) where there are likely to be lots of families.

A Medit cruise is an amazing trip with teens, who have studied these historic sights recently in school and have some sense of the importance....very eye-opening and memorable trip for them.

Enjoy!

Lynne
