iluvcruises Posted October 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2006 Whats the cheapest way to get to and from Coral World from the ship for a family of four? Thanks
The Islander Posted October 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2006 Hello, The least expensive way would be to exit the cruise ship area and walk out to the main road and use public transportation or the dollar rides. They don't go right to Coral World, they stay on the main road, so you'd need to walk a little over 1/2 mile to get between the main road and Coral World. Other options would be to take a taxi or to rent a car. You can review more information about these options at http://www.*****/stthomas/getting_around_stt/. --Islander *****

iluvcruises Posted October 22, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted October 22, 2006 If we decided to try the public transportation or dollar rides what bus would we look for?
The Islander Posted October 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 22, 2006 Hello, You'd want an East End bus or dollar ride; ask the driver to be sure they are going through Smith Bay (past the Coral World/Coki Point road). --Islander *****
Suesan Jean Posted October 25, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2006 Whats the cheapest way to get to and from Coral World from the ship for a family of four? Thanks Hi....!!!:) I was at Coki Beach about two weeks ago. We got off the ship, got a cab (I think it was $9.00 a person) and asked to go to Coki Beach. Going to the beach we had an "Open Air" Taxi. He took us to the beach entrance that is the FARTHEST RIGHT you can go. The beach was free to use, there was a fee for a chaise, I think $10.00, it could have been less though. For a can of cold soda it was $1.25, LESS then the ship..... Just a few feet from where we were, was the entrance to "Coral World". We did NOT go in, we just wanted to snorkel and trust me, it was THE BEST SNORKLING.....EVER....!!!! I did hear people talking when the were coming down the stairs from Coral World that it was "a waste of time and money".... Again, we did NOT go in. If you decide to stay at Coki Beach and snorkel, just bring a few (or you can buy for a few $$) JUMBO DOG BONES, the fish go INSANE.....!!!!:D Also, the rest rooms at that end of the beach were FILTHY....!!!:( I think you can walk up the stairs to Coral Worls and use theirs for a Dollar or two..... We stayed till almost dark and got a cab back to the ship, again, it was $9.00 a person. When is your cruise? When I find the business card of the lovely woman whose Taxi we were in on the way back, I will post it. She was WONDERFULL...!!! She said she even gives tours... When we are back in Saint Thomas next April, I WILL be contacting her.

Suesan Jean Posted October 25, 2006 #8 Share Posted October 25, 2006 I LIKE YOUR NAME.....!!! I just found the business card of the woman whose Taxi we were in for our ride back to the ship (Explorer of the Seas) on October 9th. She just happened to be at the beach when we needed a taxi, she told us that she does tours and such. A&D's Tours and Be Blessed Taxi ANNETTE MAUVAIS e-mail: tan94@hotmail.com home/fax: 340-775-0919 Annette was friendly, helpfull, kind and FUN....!!!:D I think that the Taxi is owned by her and her Husband, Dunell. We did NOT meet him, so, I don't know what he is like. Annette is TERRIFIC...!!! I would ask that SHE be your driver. I hope you like her too........:) Coki Beach was quite lovely. Suesan Jean Posted October 25, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 25, 2006 1. Sorry, don't know the price of a can of beer..... 2. Annette's taxi is an air-conditioned van......:) 3. I think the price for a taxi drops if you have more then 4 people in your party, but I am not 100% sure of the savings..... And I am glad to be of help, anytime.....:)
Suesan Jean Posted October 25, 2006 #10 Share Posted October 25, 2006 My DH just informed me that the chaise was $5.00 to rent at Coki Beach.:) Also, as I said before, we were the FARTHEST RIGHT on the beach, just steps away from the Coral World steps down to the beach. There are a few "junk" shops there too, and you can rent snorkel stuff. We just brought the ones we bought for $8.00 in Wal Mart....:D The water was CRYSTAL CLEAR....!!! There were NO waves, it was PERFECT....!!!
