snista Posted October 24, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2006 Just thought I would drop a few lines while things are still fresh. We just returned yesterday from our 4 day. I was a little worried about the Holiday with it being older and used for the hurricane, etc. but for its age and use, it was pretty nice. Definetely not showy like the larger and newer ones, but easy to navigate. The only problem we had was finding the camp carnival playroom entrance. The room was in the same location as it was on the Celebration and Julbilee, but they had a different entrance off of a different floor. It was pretty confusing for lots of people. Other than that though..not bad at all. The food was pretty standard. It wasn't the best I ever had, but it was still good. The staff was very friendly. The kids loved the camp staff. My son (6 yrs. old) also loved and had his first crush..lol..on the hostess in the dining room. He now wants to know if he can go to Macedonia to visit her. LOL We did have a big issue with our wait staff. I had never experienced anything close to this on any other cruise. Our waitress would tell us not to order something..even if we had had it before and liked it. And if we went against her recommendations, she would snatch our menu and say "you will be sorry". I felt that was unprofessional so we did talk to the pursers desk about it just to make them aware. Her assistant never said a word to us. Not sure if he couldn't speak any english or what. Always seemed put off if you asked for Iced Tea or more butter. etc. He wasn't horrible though. The game shows, bingo, karaoke, etc. were all good. Becka, the Asst cruise director is AWESOME!! I will look forward to her moving up to Cruise Director. She knew your name, talked to you all the time, danced with you, etc. She would stop and talk to your kids. She was very visable all of the time and always had a smile on her face. I was also impressed with Skip, the cruise director. He was very nice and not so cheesy. Anyhow..feel free to ask questions. I know this doesn't cover everything but I'm trying to get through 200 emails. LOL In conclusion...I truly believe I have never experienced a bad cruise. This one was no exception. We tendered. We waited since we didn't have an excursion, and got off the boat around 10:30. It wasn't too bad..although a little but of a pain. And I did fill out my comment card and put it in before we left.
Cruzman Posted October 24, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2006 Glad to hear that your overall cruise experience was a good one. Holiday is one of my favorite ships; sailed her 3 times and we are booked again for February.
