Booked guarantee cabin question

My husband and I booked our first cruise on the Carnival Glory...sailing in 25 days...can't wait! We paid for a guarantee oceanview cabin. When we received the cruise documents early this month, I noticed that we were assigned a balcony cabin. I thought the cabin assignment would be given on the day of the cruise. Since my documents show a certain cabin...what are the chances that carnival will change our assignment before the cruise?

CONGRATULATIONS on your first cruise upgrade. If you have a cabin assignment on your documents, Carnival will not change it, unless they are going to up grade you again. Have a great cruise.

Have 34 cruises under my belt and still looking for my FIRST up grade

Cruise ships are sailing full, so don't count on any upgrades. Plus, the days of free upgrades are pretty well over. They will do upsells, where you pay the difference between the cabin you paid for and the one you want to change to.

One more question...someone was telling me that sometimes you can get upgrades when boarding. How often does that happen? Is it automatic or do you ask for it?

The last time i can remember upgrade offers at the pier was in 1999.

Most of the time you will see the sign thats says "no upgrades"

Someone's dreaming.:D Since the ships sail at almost full capacity, it's very rare that ANY cabins are available the day of sailing. IF by chance an upgrade was available, you'd have to pay the difference. However, on each of my cruises I've seen signs at the purser's desk - "no available cabins".

i did years ago on our alaska cruise with hal --- was booked in a mini suite and was upgraded to a full suite at the pier at no extra charge --the pax that was booke in the full suite were upgraded to the penthouse and i know this to be true becasue we are still friends and have again sailed with them

I'm confused -- do you not want the balcony cabin? Why would you want to change again? The upgrade you got was great - and free! Congrats!

I TOTALLY want the balcony!!! I do feel lucky...I just asked because I don't want to look forward to a balcony room to find out - when boarding - that Carnival decided to move us to a oceanview room. I can't wait to have a balcony room!!!
