grammyandpoppy Posted October 24, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2006 OK YOU FREQUENT CARNIVAL CRUISERS - PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE. DH and I booked an 8I guarantee on the Nov 24th sailing of the Legend way back in June. 8Is are no longer being offered. The sailing appears fairly soft. We got our docs yesterday with no cabin assignment and I expect we will get assignment only the day of departure. Any educated guesses as to whether or not we will be upgraded and what has been your experience? Guess I am not good at this waiting game.
CruiseIsGood Posted October 24, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2006 There are so many 11's and 12's. I'm voting 12. :D I hard booked a 9A and got a 12 once.
habby Posted October 24, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 24, 2006 This was our personal experience. We booked an OV guarantee. (Actually at the time I didn't know what we were doing. When we booked I told our TA that I just wanted to make sure we had a cabin with a window.) Got our docs and had gray baggage tags. Found out our cabin number at the Carnival desk at the airport after we claimed our luggage. BALCONY!!!!!! Turn this page over and look at the bottom of the page. You will see a series of letters and numbers that will begin with your booking #. For example, 4M69A6, there will be 4 digits following your booking #. These four digits represent your assigned cabin and at this late date that is not likely to change (only a slight chance that it could). Let us know what it says. caribbean dreams Posted October 24, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 24, 2006 Back when we first started cruising, we booked guarantees, the biggest i ever received at the pier was from a 6B to a 8C.
grammyandpoppy Posted October 25, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted October 25, 2006 I just checked my docs and 5214 follows our booking number. If this is the case, it looks like the cabin is partially obstructed balcony. I am upset. I booked an 8I guarantee thinking this was a good choice. grammyandpoppy Posted October 25, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted October 25, 2006 This looks like an obstructed balcony to me. Is it?
Cruzman Posted October 25, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 25, 2006 No, no, no!!!! 5241 is a cat. 9A. It is NOT an obstructed view! Lifeboats are below. This cabin is about 50% larger than a cat. 8 and has an extended balcony that you will absolutely love! Ask anyone on your sailing that has an 8I cabin if they wanna swap and I'll bet that you will get lots of takers! Looks like you got a great upgrade! Mysticks1 Posted October 25, 2006 #10 Share Posted October 25, 2006 Not sure on the obstructed as I have not been on this class, but it is an upgrade. By looking at the diagrams I would guess there is some obstruction. It looks like you are right above the lifeboats so probably some obstruction of view straight down. The room is larger and you have 85 sq ft balcony instead of the standard 40 sq ft. It is a category 9A.
caribbean dreams Posted October 25, 2006 #11 Share Posted October 25, 2006 You won't be looking straight down at the water anyway, you will be looking out at the horizon.
Beach Bound Posted October 25, 2006 #12 Share Posted October 25, 2006 Our Ship is the Miracle we are traveling December 17th. I signed up in September with the cruise line directly. We signed up for an oceanview gar. per the cruize sales person. Yesterday when I called to pay my final payment I found that my cabin # is 6142. You guys were mentioning 8a ect... I'm not sure about any of that. What do you think about this cabin? I was surprised to be assigned this early.:)

serene56 Posted October 25, 2006 #14 Share Posted October 25, 2006
I was surprised to be assigned this early.:)
Its not really early-- this is about when Carnival sets their assignments. 45-60 days out. But before you give your luggage to the porter verify the cabin numbers. 6142 is a regular cat 8A balcony..going to carnival web site- click on funships/miracle then state rooms will show you what the cabin will look like. It located by the stairs elevators. Goood location- not looking down to lifeboats - can see down into the waters-

I'm sure there isn't much of a difference just curious as to why they would be different. I booked OVG too..and either way it is a wonderful upgrade! serene56 Posted October 25, 2006 #16 Share Posted October 25, 2006 opps- Im sorry- the spirit class ships are different. there are b, c, d's all on one deck- depending on hte deck and the location. there are some that are extended and some are balconies. ALL other class ship it is the deck that decides the letter. Thats the only difference on other ships.
