MillbrookMom Posted October 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2006 We are thinking of taking a cruise out of NY on NCL sometime in the first half of 2008. Just wondering if NCL ships would be good for kids ages 10-12? What kinds of things are there to do for the kids, or as a family? Are there certain ships that would be better than others? diamondf467 Posted October 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2006 I found that the 10 and 11 year olds were very happy with the kids group However, my sister who is 12, did not enjoy the program as much. She wanted to be with the teens and there is quite a big difference between 10 and 12 year olds, maturity wise. NCL is very strict with their age groups, they will not let a 12 year old go with the teens or a 9 with the 10-12 year olds, and yes they do check to make sure of your age. My sister, however, managed to have a great time. With us, during the days at port was family time as was dinner, but days at sea and other meals, the teens were on their own and the younger ones found things to do. If we wanted to do an activity as a family, we did, if not we didn't. There is plenty to do, you and your kids will not be bored.
NCmom Posted October 29, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2006 My DD who was 12, almost 13 when we sailed on the wind, didn't enjoy the kid's club at all. She was combined with the 8-12 year olds since there were'nt that many kids onboard. Everything was geared toward the younger kids. We did have a good time doing family things.
