MomeeToEm Posted October 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2006 I realize the RCCL website has many flaws and sometimes won't let you access certain information, but I just checked our reservation for our cruise in February and it now tells me to contact a certain TA if I have any questions regarding the reservation. Well, here's the kicker. I did not reserve this cruise through a TA (I booked directly with RCCL) and certainly not the one listed that is several thousand miles away. If it's still showing this in the AM, I'll call to try and get it sorted out, but has anyone else come across this type of error? It's kind of disturbing to think that our reservation may have been messed with in some way. So far everything else is listed correctly.
beachchick Posted October 26, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2006 I have a bad feeling about this. There is a website that "acts" like it is Royal Caribbean. It's got the logo and has reservations, etc. The thing is that it is not RCI's website. What has happened to others in the past is that they typed in royalcarribean.com rather than royalcaribbean.com. The misspelling is so common that even many who cruise with RCI often have accidently typed it in. So then you book on the "imitator" site, but they are actually an online TA (don't know where they are based). Then when you type in royalcaribbean.com correctly and check your reservation, it is listed as through this TA. Now, I don't know if that's what happened to you, but please believe me when I say that you are not alone if this is what happened. I can remember several threads over the years where a member has asked "Hey, I booked with Royal Caribbean directly; how come they assigned it to this TA?" You are doing the best thing by calling RCI and finding out what has happened. The only other time I've heard of something like this happening is when someone has booked a new cruise while onboard another cruise. If you've used a TA, they automatically assign the new booking to that TA unless you specify otherwise (or at least, they used to do that; I don't know that they still do). I hope you get this straightened right out so you can enjoy planning your cruise. beachchick
takeatrip Posted October 26, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 26, 2006 If you find it is with the faux travel agent I think you can request they send the reservation back to the real Royal Caribbean. I don't know if they are obligated to release it though and ethical agency probably would.
AFT_LOVER Posted October 26, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2006 that is the REAL Royal Caribbean. This site even states that they are not RCCL: RCCReservations.com RCCReservations.com is a part of Cruise Network and is not affiliated with Royal Caribbean Intl, Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort or Royal Caribbean Bakery. MomeeToEm Posted October 26, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted October 26, 2006 Thank you, everyone, for your advice. I booked directly though the 800# and up until now was making payments online. I always type in RCCL.com so I don't make any errors either. I just spoke with RCCL and apparently the problem started because I redeemed a rewards certificate towards the payment. When they enter the certificate they have to put in a number and it comes up as a travel agency. The one listed on my reservation is one of their partners. What a pain. I now have to call RCCL directly to make future payments, but I was told I should be able to check in and do other things online. I'd be nice if they told you this stuff! :p
AFT_LOVER Posted October 26, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 26, 2006 was this from the MBNA/B of A RCCL VISA card that we exchange points for OBC, upgrades from inside to OV, and other goodies. There is no TA involved with these. So you have me on this one? Where did you get it if not from the VISA card? Inquiring minds want to know.......... Thank you, everyone, for your advice. AFT_LOVER Posted October 27, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 27, 2006 one very poor company with lousy C/S. We closed our cards with them for MBNA now B of A with the RCCL VISA. I do not like rewards with attachments to them such as using their TA not yours.
