moondoggie21536 Posted October 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2006 I just got back from the POA. With Freestyle dining is it customary not to have the big Midnight Buffet party? Or did I miss it? The elaborate display of food and ice sculptures is so beautiful and one the most exciting things to see!

DaisyL Posted October 26, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 26, 2006 When we were on the Dawn in May they had a Chocolate Buffet but on the PoAm Oct. 7 there was NOT.
Sen Posted October 26, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2006 That's what I heard that there is not grand buffet at midnight. I have heard a lot of into on the chocolate buffet. I can't wait. Now the Century had a a grand buffet two years ago and I don't know if they still have it. I Century CCL-Eastern Caribbean 9/04 Star NCL-Mexican Riviera 11/14/06;)
Zeno Posted October 26, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 26, 2006 I understand that Carnival has a midnight Gala Buffet. On NCL the Chocoholics buffet is usually no longer held at midnight but usually sometime during the day.
i'llbesea-ingyou Posted October 26, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 26, 2006 We just got back from the Dawn on Sunday and the Chocoholic Buffet was held in one of the main dining rooms on Friday afternoon from 2:00-3:00 p.m. We missed it but heard great things about it. There was no big buffet deal but the buffet was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. There was always an abundance of food and I think a big midnight buffet might have been overkill.

I hope they keep it at night.
noobiecruiser Posted October 26, 2006 #8 Share Posted October 26, 2006 We were on the Dream last December and the chocoholics buffet was at night - I think at like 11pm - in one of the main restaurants. They had waiters serving water and champagne, and the tables were set with white linens. Very cool.
LFM Posted October 26, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 26, 2006 We were on the Spirit last February and they did the Choc. Buffet during one of the days at sea so that everyone could enjoy it.
Zeno Posted October 26, 2006 #10 Share Posted October 26, 2006 On the Jewel (August) and the Star (April) it was still at night. I hope they keep it at night. I guess it varies from ship to ship - on my 3 cruises it was during the day on a day-at-sea.
KeystoneCruiser Posted October 27, 2006 #11 Share Posted October 27, 2006 On the Dawn this past June, the Chocoholics Buffet was at 11:30 p.m.. That was the same time that it was on the Star on both times that we were on her. On the POA in 2004, they had it during the day on a sea day. I have never seen a Grand buffet at night on any NCL ship.
