luv2sweat Posted October 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2006 I have a few questions about photo services on the Explorer of the Seas. I really don't want to carry my laptop so I can download pictures from my camera. So my questions are are there facilities onbaord to download your pictures to a CD? Are there any facilities for printing your own digital photos? Thanks in advance. Wendy

I don't recall the price being posted. But it is possible.
Langley Cruisers Posted October 27, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2006 Yes! We were on Explorer in May, and I remember seeing this in the Photo area and thinking it was expensive, but it certainly is an option. I think it was about $20.00? I can't recall, but it's (obviously!) more expensive than you could do it for at home. The computers in the Internet café do not offer this service - only in the Photo shop. Also, I don't know if they can print your digi pics for you, but I suggest waiting until you get back home for this. It would be very expensive to print them onboard, as most things are more expensive at sea! Have a great time! Explorer is a magnificent ship. Sue L Posted October 27, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2006 The prices on memory cards are coming down all the time. I picked up a 1 gb for less than 30$ and it was well worth it. It might serve you well to just pick up one and not have to worry about transferring etc. BTW the Explorer is a great ship with a great crew! luv2sweat Posted October 28, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted October 28, 2006 Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. I guess I should be in good shape since I have a 1Gig and a 2Gig card for my camera. I was wondering about putting them on CD so that the cards wouldn't be too full. I think someone had mentioned that the more photos on the card, the slower the camera is. Thanks again, Wendy

Thanks again, Wendy There is no correlation between the fullness of the card and the speed of the camera. I took over 500 pictures on my last cruise and I didn't even fill up 1 card you should be fine. I remember that thread and the OP said it seemed that when his card got full then the camera would slow down, we convinced him he just needed a new camera :D

I guess I will be in good shape then. When I was getting a camera for my son (a surprise for the cruise), the prices were so good I picked up a new one for myself. I also picked a book on photography at the library so I won't come home with 100's of pictures of feet or tops of heads.:) Wendy
