Main Dining Rooms on the Sun

I agree. Food was also very good in the main dining rooms. We ate in our lst pay restaurant on the Sun in Dec., East Meets West. The steaks were fantastic! The Sun is our favorite ship so far & we have another Sun cruise scheduled in Feb.

Which sailing? We are aboard the Sun 2/4 and can't wait! :)

Both main dining rooms serve the same menus and I've experienced the same level of service in both. What I do find unusual, is the inability to reach one from the other despite the fact they're both on the same deck. You have to go up one deck to move from one to the other. Strange!

We did prefer one over the other, but at the moment I can't remember which one :o . I'm pretty sure it was the one that was located more mid-ship than the one at the back -- so whichever one that is. We seemed to get better service there, but it was two years ago in Alaska, so things could have changed.

We also found it a little awkward that you couldn't get from one to the other without going up or downstairs first, but you soon become used to the layout.

We're going 2/11 & really looking forward to our 2nd Sun cruise! It's a very friendly ship & the staff are really great. DH really enjoyed the poker room. He won enough to pay for his cruise. There's a one table room glassed off in the casino. They had a tournament every day if you're interested. I'm not much of a gambler but did play penny slots a little. We enjoyed free style dining on the Sun because it was designed for it. The longest wait was 5 minutes. We like going to eat when we feel like it, especially eating later on port days. We didn't know about the tampas restaurant on the last trip but have heard alot about it on cc & plan to go this time. Have a great trip!

We also enjoyed both dining rooms equally. The reason for not being able to get from one to the other without going upstairs is that little room called the kitchen. It kinda gets in the way.:) :)

On ships, kitchens are called galleys. The reason the galley is located between the two restaurants is because both restaurants use the same galley. That also explains why both restaurants have the same menus.

We (or at least I) did like the Four Seasons better than the Seven Seas. I liked the decor better, and while we got good service in both, we seemed to get better tables and avoid the photographer more in Four Seasons. Also, it seems like in Seven Seas they were always asking us if we wanted to sit with someone else, and they never asked us that at Four Seasons. Four Seasons was also closer to our stateroom (mid-ship) But the menu was the same, and we did get excellent waiters at both.

Just a note--on our sailing (out of N.O. on 10/15), only the Seven Seas was open for breakfast and lunch. They were both open for dinner.
