tdt741 Posted October 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2006 I just booked Carnival Destiny 4/01/007 today, A 9C catagory corner balcony room through a travel agency online for 2 persons. My friends tried to book the other corner room for them and Carnival told them they could not book it as the occupancey restrictions say the room is for 3 persons. Well I called the agent I booked through and they called Carnival and neither Carnival or the agent ever heard of the system letting anyone do that.....Well I did, Have booking number, deposit made and now the travel agency says they have to call Carnival back Mon. to see what they are going to do. They say canival has the right to change me to different room. Well the only reason I wanted this cruise is because a corner aft balcony was available. Now what should I do???? Do I have any kind of (rights?) at all. Should the travel agency be responsible at all?? Maybe pay the cost of the "third person"...I don't know, maybe someone has input on this situation...thanks!!! marty30907 Posted October 28, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2006 Just beware, you might get bumped to another cabin if they need it for 3 people as that is what the cabin is intended for.
Cruzman Posted October 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2006 Lotta misinformation about this! There is only one carner aft balcony cabin that will even accommodate 3 people. All the rest only have two single beds that convert to a queen, therefore will only accommodate two. Look at the deck plans; if there ain't a * or square showing on the cabin legend, it is a cabin for two! Problem is that a lot of Carnival staff have been misinformed about this. petro772 Posted October 29, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2006 Anyone know the web site that shows where the lifeboats are positioned?
GoinCruisin Posted October 29, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2006 Not all cabins are configured the same. There are some cabins that might appear the same as others, but they might be doubles, triples, quads, etc. Don't get upset. They have to have capacity limits (it's a coast guard thing)... just because you booked one for 2 doesn't mean the ones your friends are trying to book isn't a triple. caribbean dreams Posted October 29, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2006 I don't know what corner cabin you have but i was in cabin 8328 (aft wrap) although it had a queen bed and a couch, it was only a 2 person cabin We both need to contact someone who knows what they are talking about. We are going throught the same thing as you for our Liberty booking, the rep tells me the corner aft is for 3 people, no problem we just booked one of our kids in the cabin with us but then i find out, the other corner aft, same floor, has just been booked for 2 people??? why is my cabin a 3 and the other corner is a 2? RWolver672 Posted October 29, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 29, 2006 Anyone know the web site that shows where the lifeboats are positioned? Here's the one for the Destiny. http://www.carnival.com//Deck_Plan.aspx?shipCode=DE&deckCode=4 If the Destiny isn't the one you wanted, go to the Carnival site and click on FunShips in the blue line. Then pick out your ship. Then click on Deck Plans. From there, just keep looking until you find the ones with the long ovals on the side. Those are the lifeboats. Light Tech Posted October 29, 2006 #8 Share Posted October 29, 2006 Hay Petro772, the life boats on all Destiny Class and Conquest Class vessels, the Carnival Destiny is the Flagship for the Destiny class, are on deck 4, the Atlantic Deck. There are NO cabins on this deck. you can go to carnival.com, select "Fun Ships", select "Carnival Destiny", then lastly select "Deck Plans" and you can see exactly where everything is on the Destiny or any ship in the Carnival Fleet. Anyone know the web site that shows where the lifeboats are positioned?
Rural11 Posted October 29, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 29, 2006 We are on the Destiny for 11/4/07 and are going with a group of friends. Someone had to withdraw already and that left one person alone so we told them they could room with us (thus saving all 3 of us money). The whole group is booked through a TA with balconies being 8A's. We were wondering what cabin we might end up with since there are 3 of us in the room. Anyone know if we will perhaps end up in a corner aft? Also, on a side note, what does the "D" stand for in DH, DW, etc?

Anyone know if we will perhaps end up in a corner aft? The corner afts typically sell out pretty quick, so it's very doubtful, considering that I think there are only 1 or 2 that accomodate 3. You will likely end up in a balcony that accomodates 3... there are many more of those.

tdt741 Posted October 30, 2006 Author #13 Share Posted October 30, 2006 Well, I recieved a call today from travel agent and she got in touch with Carnival and they came to an agreement that I can still keep the 3 person ocupancy room at a 2 person rate....I was worried about their decision and didn't think I was going to keep the room!!! nimbex1970 Posted October 30, 2006 #14 Share Posted October 30, 2006 hmn, not to worry you but unless you've got it in writing, sealed with bob's DNA, I would not count 100% on it. While carnival is excellent to cruise with, thier coustomer phone service is inconsistant at best. Call them once each day for 10 days with the same question and you'll be shocked at how answers vary. If someone comes with $$ and wants that 3 person cabin, what are the odds carnival will keep a 3 pax room with 2 and decline the new business? This is always a problem with changes in pax #'s we go through this all the time as the list of people joining us changes and grows.

Mysticks1 Posted October 30, 2006 #16 Share Posted October 30, 2006 Anyone know the web site that shows where the lifeboats are positioned? www.cruisedeckplans.com This is a good site for cabin and deck information. The aft balcony cabins are also a little confusing as there are some that will hold only 2 and some that will hold more.
