uk1 Posted October 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2006 Some are intriqued to know what rates are available for those in the industry compared to the published prices. These are the current cruise rate offers for employees withing the travel industry in Australia: ($1 Australian = $0.77 American = £0.40p Sterling = 60 euros approx) http://www.etravelblackboard.com/index.asp?id=57659&nav=6#special2 Jeff
sw18 Posted November 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 5, 2006 It all depends on whether you're talking about a confirmed booking or a waitlist booking. The waitlist bookings are very good value, but are only confirmed 3-7 weeks before sailing.....a little nerve racking if you have flights to book & frustrating if you need to organaise time off work etc etc. The confirmed cabin deals are rarely much less than what is available commercially - the best deal we found for a midship verandah on our Wind Transatlantic next September was actually booked on board the Cloud on our last crossing. sw18 Posted November 5, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Can't get the above link to work through the board, but will work if you type it in manually
MrsWaldo Posted November 5, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 5, 2006 jeff, I think these fares may well be a part of the get business down under strategy.. Many of our TA's have no idea who SS is (and don't even have a book to show you if you ask). Not knowing who or what they are means that they need to be enticed with sweeteners....after all you can cruise on pacific sun or sky for 7 nights for $995AUS:eek: Ya gets what ya pays for! uk1 Posted November 6, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted November 6, 2006 Well, I'll have to keep my eye on these prices. We have enough BA miles (inclduing our Amex 2 4 1 vouvher) for two first class flights from London to Bangkok to Sydney and back to Singapore to London and Mrs UK1 has earmarked those for 1st qrtr 2008! She has it in plan that I coincide this visit with an SS cruise probably out of and back to Sydney. Now when do you think they'll release the 2008 dates! Thanks - yes - isn't it grand that they want to attract people booking in advance but then don't release the schedules. I have to book these flights literally exactly one year in advance as they're freebies - but won't have the SS schedule. They and we will I guess lose the cruise! Still there's the rest of Australia and Aisia ................. Jeff
DebbieH103 Posted November 10, 2006 #8 Share Posted November 10, 2006 I couldn't get SS here in US to confirm me more than 30 days out, and I can't count on any Caribbean itinerary being available then. I'm paying full fare, less my commission, as I did last year.
