Boarding the Destiny at 8:00 pm

Anyone knows if there's a lot of people boarding the destiny around 8:00 pm??

My flight is scheduled to arrive 5:30 pm and I'm considering 1:30 hours between the landing and our arrival to port.

I know is suggested to arrive one day before or at least earlier but I'm getting married the day before and going from México to San Juan on sunday, 5:30 pm is the earliest I can make it.

Do you have to clear customs, or is it a domestic flight? If domestic, I think you can go from the baggage claim to the port in about a half hour, easy.

Grab a cab at baggage claim. They leave at 10, and if you land on time at 5:30, you should be at the port by 6:30.

Congrats on the wedding!

G'Day salty dingo,

I don't have to clear customs since I'll be connecting in Miami and there's where I have to clear customs. I didn't know this and was a great relief. I have plenty of time at Miami (3.5 hours) to make the connection.

I've cheched for the flights from San Juan to St. Thomas just in case, I think we will be all right but is better to be ready for anything.

Cheers from México

You are not leaving yourself any time for missed connections or lost luggage.

If you have connecting flights, what are you going to do if your luggage does not arrive in San Juan on your flight (lost luggage on connecting flights is not uncommon). Or, if for whatever reason, you miss your connecting flight in Miami?

How many flights are left after yours that arrive in SJ before the ship leaves at 10 p.m.

These are the scenarios you have to have worked out if you plan to arrive in SJ on the same day of debarkation.

IMHO, arriving at 5:30 p.m. for a 10:00 ship is cutting it way too close. Everything has to line up perfectly or you are in big trouble.

Congratulations to you and best wishes to your future bride!!

Most Destiny passengers are beginning their cruise in San Juan. We've always gotten in to SJU around 1:30 and are on the ship by 3:00, even after standing in line at the port to register, etc. At 5:30 I think the traffic will be a lot lighter than between 12 and 3, and I don't think you'll have a problem getting to the ship on time.

I don't know how long customs will take in Miami, but I'm betting you'll have time to clear and make your connecting flight.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help with.

Thank you habby, your reply was exactly what I wanted to hear. There are some users that instead of reading the original question just look for a way to attack or to criticize the OP.

I hope all the flights and the immigratin procedure in miami is painless. I flew a few times in the US and never had a problem. I hope next time is the same :D .

You're welcome.

It's good that you know what to expect at customs. That's half the battle there!;)

Next will be the challenge of navigating Destiny's decks. It's amazing how much of the ship you see when you realize you can't get to where you're going from where you've been!

I'm sure the two of you will be just fine.

Habby I know there are two decks where you can cross the destiny from the aft to the stern, now I can't remeber the decks but I'm sure we will find our way.

Actually there is only one deck where you cannot go from fore to aft and that is deck three. The galley is situated between the two dining rooms. Deck four can be negotiated by way of the upper level of the mid-ship dinning room.

The reason the ship leaves so late is to let everyone on those late flights make the ship.

There is always a chance of problems with the flight, but you would be able to catch the ship the next day in St. Thomas, though it may cost you a plane ticket to get there.

Don't fret, you will be fine! Enjoy the cruise.

I know I'd have to pay $ 200 to catch a flight from San Juan to St. Thomas. American Eagle and several airlines have regular flights.

I'll also have a carry on with some clothes in case the bags are late.

Thank you again

If your flight lands at 5:30 you should be on the ship by about 7pm. You might be a little tired but baring airplane delays (and you can't control those) you should be on the ship in plenty of time.

Never mind. . . . . It wasn't an attack, it is what happens at times. Sorry.

I'm hoping for no airplane delays!! I think that I can be landing in San Juan at 8:00 pm as maximum and still reach the destiny on time.

It sounds like you're well prepared should anything happen beyond your control, so just have a great time and CONGRATS!!! :) Embarkation should be a breeze at that time as well.
