To carry on alchohol or to not carry on alcohol?

That is the question. Can I carry on my own beer and bottle? So many mixed reviews and policies about this subject. I dont want to sneek it by or anything. I want to have it in my carry on bag. If they want to check inside then thats fine with me. I also want to take my own bottled water on board. I am going to take what ever I can fit into my backback. Is that ok?

I have read on this board some people put a luggage tag on their water and soda and it gets sent to their cabin w/ thier luggage. Some have said they even did this w/ beer. As for me I think I will bring one extra big suitcase and put bottled water, cans of soda and cans of beer in it and send it in w/ all of our other luggage. Hard liquor I may try to find a plastic bottle and send one or two in that way also, see what happens.

Princess doesn't appear to be stringent about checking for bottles. However, one thing I didn't realize is that from room service you can get a half-pint bottle and supply of mixer for $15 - not a bad deal. Also, at port calls wine can be brought on, and after checking found out that beer is also allowed - so, you can openly bring a 6 pack of Red Stripe to your stateroom.

I'm sure somebody will post Princess policy direct from the web site but ...

In practice, you can haul as much bottled water on the ship as you want.

You can openly bring beer brands aboard that the ship doesn't sell.

You can bring wine and bubbly aboard for "special occasions".

You can get away with bringing a limited amount of hard liquor aboard for personal consumption. They might take exception to throwing a luggage tag on a case of Johnny Walker Red and you hoping it will actually be delivered to your cabin.

I have alway purchased a bottle or two of the local liquor at most ports and just ran the store bag thru the scanner with nothing said. On the other hand, the guy behind me had a 6 or 8 bottle carry case and they "held that" until the end of the cruise.

Use restraint and a little common sense.

Enjoy!

There have been so many serious problems aboard cruise ships related to drinking that all lines are doing something to curb the excess.
