Pumbaamd Posted November 1, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2006 What's the difference?
sdear Posted November 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2006 Not much difference other than location. I think its about 11 sq feet difference all in all. We stayed in a D1 on Freedom on the hump. It was a great room, and the location is wonderful. You are so close to everything. A few pics scattered about here :
lovrccl Posted November 2, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 2, 2006 I believe most D1's are on the 10th deck, with D2 on the 9th. We had a D1 and it was nice.
FitzLA Posted November 2, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 2, 2006 Actually, everyone is wrong. On Freedom class, location and size have nothing to do with the difference between D1 and D2. The only difference is how many people they sleep. D1 has a sleeper sofa, and D2 has a regular sofa. D1's sleep more people. That is the ONLY difference. Pumbaamd Posted November 2, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted November 2, 2006 Fitz, thanks. I was looking for an answer like yours. I see where some D1's and D2's are next to each other. And also somewhere on the RCL site did I see where there is a difference in the balcony size? With some D2's being bigger then the D1's? Does any of this ring a bell with you? Fitz, thanks. All D cabin balcony sizes are the same, unless you get an aft cabin or maybe a hump cabin...those can be a bit larger. We had a corner aft E1 on deck 7 and the balcony was HUGE. The standard E cat. balcony is a few sq ft larger than the D cat. balonies. I think that is because the D cabins are longer so they have a little less balcony. Anyway, hope this helps. Our friends had a D2 cabin on deck 7 near us, but side facing, and it was still a very nice size balcony. Have a great cruise.
Pumbaamd Posted November 2, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted November 2, 2006 So, if I follow this correctly, why book a D1 when an E2 is just "about" the same for less $$$ if it's only for the two of us?
FitzLA Posted November 2, 2006 #8 Share Posted November 2, 2006 So, if I follow this correctly, why book a D1 when an E2 is just "about" the same for less $$$ if it's only for the two of us? It is up to you. Let me just say that this is the last E1 I book. Although it was not that much smaller, it is enough to make a difference. Like I said, we had friends in a D2 and the little extra space made a big difference. Next time we will definately book a D. And it was just the 2 of us as well. But some people don't mind the small space. The difference in length is the difference between a love seat and a full size sofa.
