HoneymoonCruiser14 Posted November 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 3, 2006 If you make reservations but don't end up showing up for your scheduled time do you get charged anyway? This question is for specialty resturants and the main dining hall, how does this work?
johnql Posted November 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 3, 2006 For the specialty restaurants, there is a $5 penalty fee pp if you don't cancel at least 24 hours in advance.
newlywedcruisers Posted November 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 3, 2006 Note: If you miss a dining reservation due to someone being sick, they're pretty cool about letting one of you go up there, and bring a meal for the other one back to the room. KeystoneCruiser Posted November 4, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 4, 2006 I can attest to Newlywedcruisers comments. On our cruise this past summer, both my dad and I got sick the last sea day and were not able to join the rest of our party for dinner in Cagney's. Not only did they not charge the cover charge or penalty to us (which we would have understood), the Maitre'd Sonny, sent one of his waiters to our cabins with bowls of chicken soup and toast!! (we had asked our party to see if they could get us toast, but Sonny said that we needed soup too!) He even called to make sure that there was nothing else we wanted to eat! Main dining rooms, no fee will be charged but good to phone in your cancellation so they do not hold the table:)
Tarheelbelle Posted November 4, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2006 When we were on the Dawn last November, we were told we could not make reservations for any of the 3 main dining rooms, even on formal nights and Thanksgiving. [i won't go into the waiting we experienced... ] So is that still the policy? Or are they now making reservations for the main dining rooms? We will be on the Sun in 3 weeks and would like to know. Thank you.
KeystoneCruiser Posted November 4, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 4, 2006 You can make reservations in the Main Dining rooms for large groups only. (I believe it is 8 or more). They will only accept reservations for 5:30, 5:45, 6:00 or after 8:30. No reservations for any group between 6:15 and 8:15 p.m. We were on the Dawn in June (and the Star in 2005) and this was the policy on both ships. We had a large group on both ships so it was very helpful.

On the Dawn and Jewel, you can make a reservation in the main dining rooms if you are in a suite with concierge service:)
Tarheelbelle Posted November 6, 2006 #9 Share Posted November 6, 2006 We were in a minisuite and had a concierge. He never returned our phone calls so we couldn't avail ourselves of that service.

We had standing reservations each night for 7:30pm.
