Vanessa L Posted November 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 3, 2006 Well, I'm not happy enough just to be happy so here goes.....I have cabin # 7258 on the Miracle booked. This is a 100 sq ft balcony so I know DH and I will enjoy it. However (you knew there was a "however" coming), I've noticed in pics that these cabins are above the life boats leading me to think that we are not going to be able to look straight down and see the water. Is this in fact the case? And in case you're wondering, yes I am one of those people who likes to watch the water come off the bow of the ship. It is relaxing and almost hypnotic to watch for me. In January we had U94 on the Fascination and were able to watch the water directly as it came off the bow. While I am a horizon gazer, I prefer water watching "close up". Can those of you who've been in the recessed cabins/balconies on the Miracle let me know if the life boats are going to be an issue. There are still tons of aft balconies left to switch to should you all tell me that my "close water gazing" will be effected by the life boats. Thanks in advance!!! chitown cruisers Posted November 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 3, 2006 We had the cabins with the lifeboats underneath and switched to a non extended to eliminate that issue. It's all a matter of opinion and our group really wanted to see the water when you looked down. We are booked again on the Miracle but went with the forward section of the upper deck, because the balconies are extended but don't have the lifeboats. You are more than welcome to check the link in my signature.....it has just about everything Miracle that you would probably want to see.....photo albums from multiple CC ers, links, capers......and so on. Enjoy your cruise!!
chitown cruisers Posted November 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 3, 2006 I realize you'd be up a few decks....but I'd say it would be a negative factor for you and what you enjoy.... Vanessa L Posted November 3, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted November 3, 2006 Thanks, Chitown. You are right. I guess I'll talk to my PVP as well and ask her if she'd give up one of the 2 100sq ft balconies on the ship vs. an aft, because I couldn't see straight down. Boy, that really sucks!! LOL! Just when I think I've found the perfect room!!!! :(
HeidiHo Posted November 3, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 3, 2006 You will be above the lifeboats so will not be able to look down directly into the water but your balcony will not look like the picture in the link that chitown cruisers posted. That is a 7A cabin on deck 5. You would be 2 decks higher so the lifeboats would not come up to your balcony. We had a cabin on deck 6 above the lifeboats and it didn't bother me but if it's that important to you then change cabins. You want to get the cabin you will be happiest with. :)

Just when I think I've found the perfect room!!!! :(It's all a matter of opinion, to me you feel strongly about this issue the way we do....some don't get the fact that just a horizon view isn't good enough.....Did you see the forward cabins on the upper deck? Good luck on your choice and availability........either way you'll still be on a WONDERFUL ship!! And when you get back you can join us and book the 8 day Southern Miracle on 10-22-07:D
Vanessa L Posted November 3, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted November 3, 2006 Actually, Miracle is 12/01/07....I've got the Conquest ahead of her in February '07 to look forward to!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have an aft balcony on the Conquest though, so am not changing that!!!!

I was showing that the location of them would have an effect on what Vanessa was asking.....her ability/desire to "close water gaze".

I knew exactly what you meant when you posted the pics, Chi, and I get what you're saying now. Ironically.......we may be moving to Chicago (Naperville to be exact) come January. If so, we will have to postpone the Conquest so who knows....October 07 might work ;) However, since my last cruise was in January '06 I'd probably spontaneously combust if I had to wait until 10/07 for the next one!!! I'd have to do something before then!!!!

We have 2 kids (now teenagers) so have made regular trips to Six Flags. We just take 90 to 294/94 and go straight up. Usually it only take about 45 minutes but we try to avoid rush hour. Vanessa L Posted November 4, 2006 Author #20 Share Posted November 4, 2006 I'm reading all of this and wondering what y'all are talking about!! We will know by Thanksgiving at the latest. It is gonna hurt my feelings if we have to reschedule yet again (we rescheduled a Dec 06 Fascination cruise for the Conquest due to kid issues), but, given that this would be a wonderful opportunity for DH, I'm not complaining too badly!! The oceans and the ships aren't going anywhere ;)

The oceans and the ships aren't going anywhere ;) Vanessa, you'll learn soon enough if you move here. First of all, Naperville is a very nice area to live. Like any place, there are areas near Naperville that are not so nice but Naperville itself is nice. Woodfield Mall is near me and about 1/2 hour from Naperville. At one time it held the record of being the largest indoor shopping mall in America. The Mall of America is bigger but I believe Woodfield is bigger in terms of selling space (that was a few years ago and may not longer be true). MOA has a lot of non selling space like the amusement park. You probably already know that Six Flags is an amusement park. We sometimes call it Great America because it's whole name is Six Flags Great America. Gurnee Mills is another huge mall right across the hwy from Six Flags but it's an outlet mall. I like to go there when I drop my kids off at Six Flags. Six Flags and Gurnee Mills would be about 1 1/2 hours from Naperville. The Chicago area is very nice with plenty to do but I really hate the cold in winter. I see you live in PA so it's probably cold in the winter where you are too so that would be no big change. The city of Chicago, like all big cities has some really bad areas but downtown is beautiful. There's just so much to do. We don't get down there often enough. BTW, you will love the Miracle. We have been on the Miracle and her sister ship, the Pride. My kids would like to try a different class of ship next time but I'd be perfectly happy sticking with a Spirit Class ship. Oh well, we don't have another cruise planned in the near future anyway.:( In fact, I'm going skiing in Colorado for spring break in March.:D Cruises are going to get tough to schedule and afford since next year my son will be in college. Vanessa L Posted November 4, 2006 Author #22 Share Posted November 4, 2006 Thanks for the info, Heidi!! I let DH read your post and he said, "Uh, oh, I don't know if that's good or not" about the mall near there, LOL!! He was kidding of course, but I for one am happy to hear it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As I said, we'll know no later than Thanksgiving so if you are one to do so, please say a prayer for us. This would be an awesome opportunity for DH and even if it means rescheduling the Conquest, I'd rather him get the job and make the move!! :)

I haven't been there but have been to one like it in Michigan. It's considered more of a "designer" outlet mall. My best friend lives right down the street from it. I hope everything works out for you. The cruise ships will be there later if you have to reschedule. Good luck.:)
