Uconnfan Posted November 4, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2006 Travel agent said we would get e tickets for our 1/7 cruise 45 days in advance. Is this true. Last year we went on the Dawn and got our ticks in the mail. We have had MANY problems with this agency and just want to make sure that they are not screwing with us Thanks

Last year we went on the Dawn and got our ticks in the mail. We have had MANY problems with this agency and just want to make sure that they are not screwing with us Thanks I have yet to get anything but paper docs. I should be getting my docs any day now for the Pearl and expect paper again. Most of the mega TAs in fact request edocs from NCL and have for years. Saves them $. No bulk shipments to sort and ship to their clients. I expect like the airlines - All paper tickets will be an option and have a fee.
melika091900 Posted November 4, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 4, 2006 in jan on the star we got edocs,, this month we leave in 1 week and we got paper docs in the mail, so i guess its just whatever they want to send,,, i dont know,,, im sure its fine
mbisson Posted November 4, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 4, 2006 I asked my TA about this b4 our last NCL cruise. He said he can get either and asked me which I prefer. -Monte
CruisinMK Posted November 4, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2006 You don't need docs, you can show up at the pier without them no problem. If you are wondering if they are "screwing with you" then ask the agent for your reservation number. Use that to try to pre-register, and if all the information on the pre-register screen comes up correct then you know everything is ok.

Last year we went on the Dawn and got our ticks in the mail. We have had MANY problems with this agency and just want to make sure that they are not screwing with us Thanks Did you book directly with NCL last year? It seems to me that the TA's send e-docs and those who book directly with NCL get the paper documents in the mail. I don't think they're screwing with you, but it sounds like you should switch TA's if you've had many problems! I just received my paper docs from NCL in the mail a couple of days ago for my 12/28/06 cruise. I booked directly with NCL.:) ( Still doin' the doc dance... and it ain't pretty! )

roddee Posted November 4, 2006 #9 Share Posted November 4, 2006 We have had e-docs for our last 2 NCL cruises, the last being in January '06, and are expecting e-docs for our Jan '07 cruise. We have gotten them way in advance of the cruise and still have all of the information included. As one earlier poster suggested, get your reservation number and try pre-registering on the NCL site. You need to register prior to the cruise anyway, and this way you can verify your reservation.
johnql Posted November 4, 2006 #10 Share Posted November 4, 2006 We have had MANY problems with this agency and just want to make sure that they are not screwing with us E-docs are fairly common nowadays, so I wouldn't worry too much. My question, however, is why are you still using the same agency if you have had many problems with them?
noobiecruiser Posted November 4, 2006 #11 Share Posted November 4, 2006 I got etickets several weeks ago for our December 23 cruise on Majesty. Just another opportunity to do the do dance!
Uconnfan Posted November 5, 2006 Author #12 Share Posted November 5, 2006 We used the agency last year with no problem. This year it was a disaster. It is a major .com agency in our hometown. We have 2 cabins with four people. We were quoted different prices, paid differernt prices, and have been called by them to say we owed money when we have papers that say that we paid in full. Obviously it is a major communication problem that they have. WE had to show them that we paid and told them that we wont be using them anymore. The TA even messed up on the insurance and called us two days after we booked to say that. All of us did register on the NCL site with no problem. Should we call NCL and see if they got our final payments? This cruise was alot of money. We don't want to get to NYC and be denied boarding. AHHHHHH I want to shout out the name of the TA, but will be nice and wont. But let me tell you that I will be writing a letter when we return to shore. Cosmopolitan Posted November 5, 2006 #13 Share Posted November 5, 2006 We have always booked directly with NCL and always received paper docs., in the mail. However, there are many e-doc posts on these boards and they do not seem to have any problem boarding. Have a wonderful cruise:)
212cruiser Posted November 6, 2006 #14 Share Posted November 6, 2006 We have never booked a cruise directly with a cruise line, yet always received "paper" docs from the agents until we booked our current cruise on the Spirit 11/30/06. Our agent sent us e-docs and NCL followed up with a confirmation. I called NCL to see if we would be receiving anything else and the rep said: "No; just pack, get there, and have a great cruise!" We're taking her advice.
LFM Posted November 6, 2006 #15 Share Posted November 6, 2006 We received ours about 2 weeks ago for the Dawn, sailing Dec. 17th. I asked my TA for paper, but NCL said no can do. This is our first experience with e-docs, just hope all goes well.
KCat Posted November 6, 2006 #16 Share Posted November 6, 2006 This may be a silly question :o but...How do you get your luggage tags when you receive E-docs?
johnql Posted November 6, 2006 #17 Share Posted November 6, 2006 This may be a silly question :o but...How do you get your luggage tags when you receive E-docs? The e-docs include luggage tags that you can print out yourself. Or you can just wait until you get to the pier and get "real" tags from a porter. garycarla Posted November 6, 2006 #19 Share Posted November 6, 2006 Just returned from NCL cruise from Barcelona. You do not need e-docs. You do not need paper docs. You do not need luggage tags. REALLY! We had NONE of them with us, showed our passports and we were on the ship in well under 15 minutes. REALLY! But, you really should - make that must - pre register on the ncl.com website. Then you will KNOW you are in their system.

That is the case but I was happy when I got home today, opened the mailbox, and found a white envelope that contained a plastic folder and my paper docs for the Pearl transatlantic.:) :) I got my docs and the ship headed out to the sea on the same day:cool:
