KLMB Posted November 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Taking the weekend cruise on Dec 1 on Sovereign of the Seas. I booked deck 8 because it seemed the rooms were slightly larger, but with obstructed views. Can you see out the window at all? Also seemed to have booked a cabin with a connecting door we will not be using. What do you loose when you "gain" a door. Thanks so much for any help! Tmmull Posted November 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Here's some pics of the view from deck 8. http://travel.webshots.com/album/183397492JnrrZL Non connecting rooms have a small couch and the connecting rooms have a chair.
JTJ Posted November 5, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 5, 2006 There's no obstruction on either side of the ship for three cabins forward of the elevator and one aft. Also if you happen to be between life boats.
cruisegirl1 Posted November 5, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Deck 8 cabins are the same size as the cabins on decks 2-7. Cabins on deck 9 are slightly larger and suites are on 10. Not sure about the "tmmul" post but there are no couches in any cabin on deck 2-8 as the rooms are only 122 sq ft. I’ve stayed on decks 3,4,5,8,9 and 10 (and am on 8 for the Dec 1 cruise also) and I know there is no couch. (none on 9 either. You need to be in a JS or higher on 10 to get a couch on the Sovereign) Most have rooms have some degree of obstruction from the lifeboats except (as mentioned) the three from the elevators. Tmmull Posted November 5, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Marci, I may have confused the Sovereign with another ship, sometimes they all blend together. I have stayed in both adjoining and non adjoining on deck 8 and the slightly smaller interior. Maybe there was a chair in the non adjoining and just a door in the adjoining? We've stayed on deck 9 on the Monarch and those cabins have a corner sitting area. I'll try to find any pics I have to show.
cruisegirl1 Posted November 5, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Tmmull – Yes –they do all blend together, but isn’t that a great problem! The non suite cabins (decks 2-9) on the Sovereign are so small that there is only one small chair (at the vanity) for sitting, not even an easy chair. For three days –it is not so bad – but when the Sovereign was new – she did 7 day voyages. We take the Sovereign several times each year and are used to the small cabins – but I can not imagine 7 days in the small space Marci
KLMB Posted November 5, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Thanks everyone for your help! I am in cabin 8530, four cabins down, so I guess I am one cabin off from not having an obstructed view.
